Well, that was a surreal experience. 3.5 hrs (including lunch) and a credit card swipe, and the whole thing is going to arrive tomorrow. I feel like I just bought a kitchen at Wal-Mart. lol. I hope this works out and that we like the door style once it's installed. It isn't DH's ideal -- mine either -- but about 1 a.m. I sort of lost interest in all the nuances of flat panel door design and just went the easy way (vs custom). There are some things that we will have to test out for looks etc as we go, so I know I'll have to do some returning and exchanging -- so I'm still happy to have design input esp. on the sink area. We've got a couple of weeks yet before things get started, so there is time to change or add to the plan. Andy, twodogs and marti8a -- I got a bee in my bonnet about the sink move a few months ago and I never could get it back out, so I think that is set in stone. (rationally or not, ha.) I always prep to the right of the sink, always have the dreaded dish drainer on the counter to the left and seem to be incapable of changing direction -- I've tried -- so that's why I planned it with the longer stretch of countertop to the right. I am definitely listening to you regarding the window size and shelves vs a cabinet. I think the cabinet between the windows might just have to wait until I see how it is all looking, and I will consider shelves (hate dusting or I would have put them in to start with). Hollysprings -- you always have good ideas. I had also thought of slotting in a cart somewhere, but I was thinking perhaps at the end of the cleanup sink run. That 36" space on the other side does give more room for a cart plus maybe some drawers too. When I clean out the cabinets over the next couple of weeks and get rid of all the extra stuff, I'll inventory exactly what needs to go where (should have already done that) and decide how much drawer space I need. I would love to have wider windows (that actually look outdoors) but there is a dividing wall and a laundry closet in between them on the other side. I'll consult DH and our handyman about the old window. Maybe we will end up replacing and reframing it after all. Thanks all, again!

Another beautiful house that fell into the gray trap. Get rid of the gray and the house will be fine. Choose one of the colors out of the bigger color scheme of littlebug. The white is too white too. A tone of light beige will accommodate the walls to the brick. A truly dark red or dark green might be nice accent colors, but don't overdo it. Maybe just the door and the swing (which can stay in my opinion, but the pillows are too modern). Besides that: do people not build and buy such houses for the 'dated' look? It is supposed to look like from another era. So do not update, but preserve the look. The rest of the house is beautiful as it is. It doesn't have to be all Tudor style, per se. Have you seen the movie 'pride or prejudice'. That house also has such a wooden railing. In my opinion your door and windows look beautiful too. Some agents of styles tend to become to stringent. So: paint will do a marvelous job on an already lovely house.

I think your kitchen is very nice, I don’t think the backsplash clashes with the cabinetry and I’m often critical of that in a lot of kitchen photos I see. You know what your kitchen reminds me of? Those rooms where a lot of different shades of whites, creams, and ivories are used... they don’t really match, but they all just go together nicely... and the thing (I think) that ties them all together is a lot of use of texture. So, for that, I like the chairs you have that are woven, as opposed to the smooth, white chairs. And I don’t think you need that tablecloth, I think the table looks just fine without it. I’d add some natural sea grass like colors and textures and some houseplants, maybe some wood cutting boards against the backsplash... any other colors I would gravitate towards would be soft blues and greens, nothing too intense.

I know the numbers. I also know that OP is not wrong because the numbers don't agree with her. She is seeing baby blue and it isn't because of lighting. It is because the color is blue. 10 years from now when the OP looks at her walls she will still see blue. If I were looking for a blue white which white would you suggest? I can look at the fan deck, know without a lick of analysis that Rhinestone is the bluest white. You won't find a white that measures bluer than Rhinestone, which is just barely over 10GY (144). CIE-L*Ch(ab) = 89.015 0.763 146.962° So given that none of the whites measure out as a blue white, most don't even get over a 5GY, so they are more yellow than green, does this mean the SW has only one or two cool whites and all the rest are warm whites and that they have no blue whites? To understand what is going to be seen by our OPs we have to go beyond the hue and note the Light and Chroma. The lower the Chroma the more neutral gray and the more gray the more people see blue. We perceive gray as blue. What I don't want is for this OP to be lulled into a feeling of safe or thinking that she is somehow flawed and unable to perceive color, but seeing blue for the next 10 years until she finally decides to paint again and this time picks a white with more saturation that doesn't look baby blue on her walls.
