Make gray look less blue? :(
Comments (19)Opening this up for help and discussion again. Trying not to lose my mind . LOL! Looking for a warm light tan color. A light beige possibly? Baby fawn looks grey/blue. It's too cold for this room. Want an off white with warm brownish tones but no pink/yellow/peach undertones. Any advice? :) may try the Muslin out today!...See MoreHow can I make my couch look less blue, more grey.
Comments (20)Your room is lovely; it's unfortunate that some people get satisfaction from being rude - must make them feel better about themselves somehow. When you put the sample against the couch are they different or the same? Or did you not actually have a sample or just the pic of it. If you don't have a sample, I'd order one and see if they are the same. The color is lovely; I personally think it is much more interesting and livable than a darker gray would be, but that's me, not you. It looks great in your space. Will the store take it back if the fabric doesn't match the sample?...See MoreHow do I make my wine cellar look better?
Comments (47)edenchild, I bet you could find fancy stuff online or in an upscale sort of store if you wanted to... but just the basic stuff a local fabric store would have would work just fine. Most fabric stores sell felt by the yard in basic primary colors, some pastels, and sometimes some prints. Get it by the yard, it comes in different widths, but common around 36 or 44 inches, sometimes wider- then you can cut it to whatever size you need it and you don't need seams or anything to finish the edges. Don't get squares or sheets of the stuff, you got too much racks to play with that. If you want, you could pick something bright to add a wee pop of color to the shelf fronts while still being functional. Red would be traditional, but light or bright colors would be nice too. Cut the felt to be barely inside the depth of the shelves, draping over the front edge is a PITA and usually looks like tacky crap. But do be sure to leave yourself with a few inches of drape on both ends over on the width of the shelves, gives you shift room for bottle movement as they get added or removed from the shelf. To do this... and use a fabric tape that's soft and not a hard ruler or metal measuring tape... measure the depth of your shelf just inside the braces, and that's final. Then lay the tape across the width of your shelf, using a bottle in each slot to make sure the "dip curve" is accounted for, and use that for your width measurement. Also... you might not be one for chardonnay since it's a white, but since you like reds... watch your cabs and pinot bottles. Some of them have a slight taper with the bottle and it's better to store them punt facing out instead of the wall if you stack your bottles on top of each other. Again, vibrations can cause a slide, and better to slide into the wall instead of onto the floor....See Morehow do I make these chairs look less farmhouse and more grand mill?
Comments (52)Hi LS I received a message from another user to come to your thread and see if I could offer some assistance. I have not read through each of the comments due to a limited amount of time to do so on my part, However I did get to your photo of the navy chairs around a white table. So thus far my question is this. Grand Millineal is not the style of that inspiration photo you shared. That is a modern farmhouse style. SO before movimng on which one are you trying to achieve? With your existing chairs the only type of paint that may bring them closer to the Grand mIllineal look is to have them lacquered professionally, the seat bottom upholstered and adding a great fabric inspired pillow with a great flat trim to the back. If you were to do that it would get you closer but still would have a distinictive country vibe due to the X back on the chair. Also if you were to do all those things you would be spending more on your existing chairs than you would if you were to source new chairs. GM doesnt limit itself to a Chinese Chippendale chair and bamboo. That style would be difficult to pick up for a song currently due to its popularity but others would not. Also which form of GM are you inspired by? Coastal GM? Grandma GM? Tradiational GM? all things to consider. If your heart is set on the Chinese Chippendale style chair I would try to get to a Ballard Design outlet center on a weekend. They always have them on the floor there and usually run 50% off during the weekends. You won't get 4-6 of the same color but you will get them for a great price and then can paint them. Also these on Birch Lane are some of the least expensive versions out there https://www.birchlane.com/Birch-Lane™--Janae-Cross-Back-Side-Chair-X111659226-L168-K~B000285454.html?refid=GX433453121207-B000285454_593188138&device=c&ptid=1068218427322&network=g&ireid=209925791&targetid=aud-1644963994469:pla-1068218427322&PiID%5B%5D=593188138&gclid=Cj0KCQjwzqSWBhDPARIsAK38LY_C01HsFU3gcl5eWuzHF85BMfaDevC_zQsUsxIxk44zMv6nyasmWN8aAs3vEALw_wcB&piid=584891105 Best of luck!...See MoreFlo Mangan
