Another idea: get some of those Sterilite plastic drawers, and stack them on one side of the closet. That'll "partition off" one small section to be for cleaning supplies. And a drawer will help you access the deepness of the storage space, bcs it'll pull things forward. The one drawback to those is that they're sort of short; most bottles won't fit in them standing up. But there are taller versions. And you might be able to put -all- the cleaning solutions in the caddy, which would ease the pressure on having a tall drawer. There are lots of carts for this space, but you have to pull the whole cart out instead of just a drawer. But it's an idea--you could put it on the open side of the closet, and pull it out to get to stuff. And hang shorter jackets above it.

Just to clarify, both painters are saying they would do an oil-based primer on house and trim. In fact, all five painters said they would do a full prime of the house since we are changing colors. If I remember correctly, all five painters specified they would use an oil-based primer. I'm assuming some of the painters are proposing just one coat of finish paint because they consider the full priming of the house as the first coat. Of the five quotes I received, only two would do two coats after laying down a full coat of primer. The painter proposing one coat of Aura said he would use BM's Fresh Start Exterior Primer; the others don't specify which primer they would use.

We did veneer plaster for a couple of reasons. In our regional area, no one does it. We had to go to a specialty supplier and order it in. We found someone who trained in Maine to install it and the only reason it was a bit more expensive than drywall is because our original framing was uneven and we ordered 5/8" thick sheets. I had a pretty strong aversion to drywall after the adventures with mold. Veener plaster is freakin' gorgeous, perfectly smooth and we would do it again in a heartbeat. The feel of it perfectly matches the rest of the house - which is all 1920's plaster. Here, people call the supposedly water resistant drywall "blueboard", so I was surprised by what it looked like (gray, gray and more gray) and that it was made up of two slightly different layers and that it is much harder and denser than drywall. It works pretty well as a sound deadener too! @casey Wow, that is really nice!

Since this is your main entrance, don't clutter it up with coat hooks on the wall or open shoe shelves. A single hat rack might be worthwhile -- you can find them in any office supply store catalogue. A low cabinet with doors on the front for shoes -- one that could be used as a bench -- would be worthwhile, otherwise get in the habit of putting everything else in a cabinet or closet behind a closed door or the clutter will soon begin to irritate you and bad habits your family begins could be difficult to change and you'll be the one perpetually picking up and straightening it up.
