Exterior—sw natural linen?
Comments (11)I am going to say that the house color on the picture that is displaying on my screen looks more green than purple, so that tells me that the translation from camera to display may not be working accurately, so I cannot begin to specify a color that will work with the stone. I think the stone has enough gray to provide balance (gray at the top and at the bottom with warmer tans in between. My mom taught us to pick colors by mimicking nature. If we could find the combination in nature we could wear it together. I am not so fearful of mixing a gray roof with warmer colors. Mother nature does it beautifully. I think you are on the right track, but you need to look at a large sample next to your stone on all 4 sides of your home on bright days and cloudy days to know if you really like to the color. I personally like the warmer neutrals, including natural linen to the cooler neutrals based on these illustrations Silverplate: Agreeable gray Accessible Beige: Natural Linen...See MoreWhat color kitchen cabinets and trim with Greek villa walls?
Comments (5)Here’s some side by side comparisons of some coordinating colors SW lists for Greek Villa. And here’s a side by side with Pearly White, which is listed as a coordinating color and has a slight green undertone that I really like, and Natural Linen, which is not listed as a coordinating color....See MoreTrim & Cabinets SW Greek Villa -- Need wall paint colors
Comments (16)Sorry I've been MIA. Been super busy. So, my analysis of the DNA (scientific notation) of the colors we have been discussing is as follows. First, these all fall into a category of being able to "contrast" with the Greek Villa cabinetry. Greek Villa has a LRV (light reflective value)- or how light or dark a color will appear (0 being black to 100 which is pure white and reflects all light). Greek Villa has an LRV of 84. So very reflective on that scale. All the others that have been suggested are all in the 70-73 range. That means they are not as reflective so would give enough of a difference to be at least somewhat contrasting. HOWEVER, your light in your space both natural and artificial is very important to these values. Since you are struggling a bit with this, I suggest you consider ordering a "package" of samples the "warm whites" from samplize.com They have sets that are available and much easier to use than making your own samples and buying many sample pots of paint, poster boards, brushes, etc. and then having to dispose properly of left over paint. I use these all the time. I think the kit will really help you and you can see these colors much better in your own light conditions. Otherwise, we are just hunting for that "needle in a haystack". Hope that helps....See MoreBest paint options with natural trim
Comments (21)IMHO wood is not "orange," (except perhaps old pine with old polyurethane coating which turns dingy pumpkin color) It is a complex blending of different browns (and brown is actually a combination of primary colors red, yellow, blue) Your trim looks like it leans into the red-browns, while floors more gold-yellow-brown. The question IMHO should not be how to make your wood look less "orange," but how to make it look its best, how to come up with a good color scheme that brings out its beauty and doesnt fight against it or overpower it (as in the case with the oppressively dark orange walls above). You can see in Kendrahs pic above how the green-gray lets the wood be wood - with its reddish tones and all - but because the wood tone is a secondary color to the grays and whites, its there but its not overpowering the room . Proportions of color in a room are as important as what the color choices are. Dont be afraid of complementary colors - rooms that are otherwise quite boring can come alive - with the addition of an opposite color as accent. That said, of course what above posters have said is also true - that a wall color that is a lighter version of the wood color can be a good choice too, as all will blend together and thus de-emphasize the wood. I would go to paint store, look at the strips with the browns and find ones where the dark tones most closely resemble the brown of your wood, then look up at the lightest, whitest version of that same color. If you want a definite white, and not light beige, then ask at the paint store which white has same/similar pigments/hue....See MoreAmber
