White, Black or Stainless? Please advise on fridge (pics)
Comments (25)I vote for a white fridge. Your dishwasher is directly across, and even with a panel change you would still have a fairly large portion of the top white. Have you thought about beadboard? It's sold in big sheets and is fairly inexpensive. I attached a site to show you how a beadboard kitchen would look. This one has SS appliances but note that it is also playing off a gray. Since you have plain face front cabinets, already painted, this might be a fairly inexpensive way to jazz up your kitchen. Note how they ran beadboard in the soffet area above the cabinets. Also, it was used as a backsplash. Buy sheets of inexpensive beadboard and molding and frame out new fronts using your existing cabinet doors. Then run it around the back of the bar. Change out the knobs. It looks like your overhead fan vent is a fairly inexpensive model. Probably wouldn't be too hard to remove, clean, and spray white. Paint the old paneling white until you can afford to replace it with beadboard. I think the white would go well with both your current counters and floor. However, you could also go with a glazed look if you decide to try the beadboard. Comments (6)Hi Carol9999 The plans for your kitchen sound really pretty! I love the darker granites, they work with everything so beautifully. Some of your choices are close to what we have chosen as well, only our cabinets aren't updated (yet) and are that golden oak. Just wanted to offer a word to the wise regarding the sink and your faucet choice. We installed a stainless sink when we moved into our house a couple of years ago and even though we were told it's good quality it has not performed well AT ALL. Everything from pots and pans to silverware and the stove grills stratch it, it's difficult to remove water stains from, also it lost it's luster about 18 mos ago, and regardless of how often I clean it, it always looks dull. After finding this sight a few months ago, I kept reading about the silgranit sinks but assumed they were very expensive. Now we're at a place financially where we can afford to install granite counters (we went with Green Peacock which is a sister stone of UBA TUBA) and finally get rid of the old ugly laminate. Yeah!. And under the circumstances, we decided the stainles sink must go. Even though I thought it would be a fruitless effort, I decided to see just how much those Silgranit sinks cost and was completely shocked at how affordable they really are! We bought ours sight unseen in black and it was shipped to us last week. (sorry, I always forget the proper name for it) It's gorgeous! We have it sitting in the box waiting for when it can be installed and I can't wait! Now, when we installed the stainless sink we also installed a new faucet. I loved the variety of styles offered by Price Pfister and was even happier with the pricing. However, that was short lived when we started experiencing problems almost immediately after it was installed. First the soap dispenser broke, which was replaced quite easily, but they sent the wrong model. After a couple more calls we were finally sent the correct model, which after a few more months broke again. I was so frustrated, I just gave up on it. Then a few months ago, the button on the sprayer started sticking and now we inevitably get sprayed when trying to turn it off. Lastely, it's supposed to be an easy clean finish but it's impossible to clean the water spots off (brushed nickel). Needless to say, it's going too! And we've gone a different route this time, spending a little more for something that came highly recommended from the forum. As a matter fact, I believe, it's the same model as Robin's above only in brushed nickel or stainless steel. We were going to go with Delta but changed to Moen for design reasons. I would have expected to have the kinds of problems we had with these products if I had a house full of kids and there was daily abuse, but it's only my DH & I and we're just not that hard on stuff. So buyer beware! HTH - Lukki...See MoreHelp with kitchen knob colour in white kitchen, want to get it right
Comments (6)Hey M K, it would all be up to personal preference. I agree with shopping37 you have stainless appliances which nickel works well with so i think you could make it work in your kitchen. I do personally feel like a matching gold hardware would give a cleaner more put together look but if you really like the idea of mixing or don't really have a choice you could definitely get away with it in your space. Also, i am swooning over your light fixtures they are just the coolest things!!! if your still looking around for hardware options you should check out Century Hardware. Congratulations on the new kitchen!...See MoreKitchen Cabinet Hardware - Silver or Gold? Pulls or Knobs?
Comments (1)I think it depends on the rest of the spaces and the lighting as to what color pulls and knobs.I prefer pulls everywhere and in proportion to the cabinets I never like 2 knobs or pulls on drawers and what do you have the wings on either side of the over hang.? What is the floor going to be ?IMO pulls are one of the last choices to make along with wall color and backsplash..Those choices should be made after making sure all lighting is LED in 4000K. As for timeless I think more important is what you love the next guy can change the pulls and knobs to whatever they love....See MoreMissi (4b IA)
