Does anyone have experience with Formica Everform countertops?

I was set on going quartz but in my research heard mention of the Everform material. I ordered samples and was very impressed by how closely they mimicked real stone. Curious if they are as durable as they're advertised to be or if a budget-friendly, quartz look alike is too good to be true. In particular, I'd like to know how it holds up to heat (love being able to put pans on my granite tops right out of the oven) and scratches.

You don’t put hot pots on any counter material. Ever. Granite can crack from thermal shock. And you can scorch anything with a resin content. That Corian knockoff has resin in it, just like quartz does. Just like a lot of granite coming in from the quarries do these days. If you keep putting hot things on counters, it’s only going to end in tears.

I guess I have just been very lucky! Have been placing pans hot out of the oven on my granite tops since we got them 9 years ago and have had no issues. Guess I better stop doing that before my luck runs out!! Thank you, Verbo!

All micro drawers are made by Sharp regardless of the logo on front and none have convection oven features. I'm still not comprehending the math. A miele single oven + speed oven would be the same or less than two T'dor ovens incld. the 301. If you're saying that oven "x" is cheaper than a Miele single oven, I can grasp that - put it in the column. Now we're looking at the speed oven and I'm pretty sure the 301 is going to be the most expensive one out there so I'm having a hard time squaring the total column. I mean the cheapest Tdor single is $2500 +/- so you're looking at 6500 bucks total package. How much were you quoted on the Miele pair??? Even going top of the line you'd be looking at +500 for the miele pair, but get better functionality and reliability for less than 10%. T'dor ovens have had some issues and recalls recently. If you were willing to forgo some bells and whistles you could whittle a miele set to $5700-$5800. Calculations aside - the micro drawer is a nice bit of kit for undercounter. I thinks it's main drawback is most have motorized door opening and it's a bit slow for my tastes. Second I find it awkward for just warming up a cup of cocoa or tea. If you don't use a micro for tasks like that or are as impatient as my crowd , it becomes moot. $10k is a good budget for those four and you have plenty of options.

>I don't know if the price has skyrocketed or if it's just the fact that I live in a very high labor cost area, and our kitchen has irregular shapes such as a window to the dining room - but it was certainly not an inexpensive option. It's not cheap around here (East coast FL) either, unless you go with the prefab grab and go laminates from the stock areas at the big box stores. Otherwise, one reason formica is less popular in this area is that it's perceived as over-priced these days. Some of those styles are very handsome, but there's nothing budget-friendly about them in this particular market.

Julie , I don't think that is necessary or in the manual guide for install to do that. My builders had input from where we bought appliances and cabinet makers and thoroughly reviewed Wolf instructions. It is just the gas coming out is louder then the other two. The technician said it is completely normal ! But the way its built the gas makes a bit more sound when coming out of those tow burners. I understand I loved having help, and getting opinions. It really is a sleek unit I don't think there is anything else out there with that " look". plus it is bigger then most drop in units.

Someone posted a while back a YouTube video showing an experiment of putting pans straight out of the oven onto granite and quartz. It did show one instance of granite cracking -- if I remember right, it is a function of temperature, weight (of the pan/pot plus contents) and maybe surface area as well. Basically, a very hot heavy and big pan could cause a granite to crack. Like you, I also used to put stuff out of the oven straight onto my granite counter and luckily, nothing bad happened. I went from granite counters to quartz and am now more careful with putting hot things on the counters -- lots of trivets now for me. But I love quartz for how easy it is to clean and really low maintenance if you don't mind being careful of the temperature of things you set on it (certainly a big if for people who don't want this trouble).

Everform is apparently an acrylic solid surface as compared to a polyester. It is a fine countertop. Nothing is more hygenic, repairable, or has as inconspicuous seams.

Since you have to use trivets on natural stone, engineered stone, and solid surface, that makes them equal in the heat-resistance department, practically speaking.
