Giacomo, our Kousa Dogwood planted in honor of the 2005 Kentucky Derby winner. The branches were so heavily laden with flower bracts I was afraid that limbs might break.

Katlan, I don't think I've ever seen turkeys up that high! I just Googled to see where they nest, and learned their nests are on the ground, in dead leaves at the base of trees. No wonder they like it here. Lots of dead leaves (and trees). :-)

Alisande I never had either! I didn't even know what they were at first. They just kept flying in and landing there and walked around the branches. Crazy.

Even though I can't wait until spring, I do find a snowy scene quite beautiful.

Katlan, I never knew wild turkeys could fly until a flock of them flew over us when we were driving down a road. Alisande, they will also nest in an open field in deep grass. My Dh found a nest in a field several years ago.

Turkeys live in the woods where I used to ride my horse. One day we were riding along (I usually lead since Teddy was the bravest horse!) and a whole family of turkeys came out of the brush, running down the trail!! Two parents and about 5 babies were running on ahead of us. We just stopped and let them settle back into the bushes. They would sometimes fly over our heads too.
