Cream sofa and cream/yellow wall color?
Comments (1)I sort of did the same thing. I have a beige sofa with a khaki hue to it and I painted the walls RH Latte. It doesn't clash, since the Latte also has a greenish hue to it, but it's almost too similar. But when I tried Tobacco Road, which is more golden, it clashed big time. I would like to have gone deeper but the room tends to cast a greenish hue anyway. I just used alot of accents in red (pillows, trim on lamp shade, new area rug) and that seems to work pretty good. Just paint a large swatch of color on poster board and hold it up by the sofa to get an idea of how it will look. That helped me alot. My house doesn't seem to be able to handle goldish colors. In retropsect I would have tried SW Whole Wheat as many suggested or Ellen Kennon's Edgewood Green. RH Cappuccino is a nice neutral that may go well with your cream leather. YOu have so many choices given it's cream....See MoreHELP! Cream (yellow tinted) trim
Comments (7)Nice sunroom. Love the floors. Here's are some visuals Comparing a neutral grey (less blue undertones) with white or beige trim & white or beige ceiling. I suggest getting 3 shades of grey to compare if you paint the walls. Get a bluish grey & a neutral grey (less blue to test) IMO, I like the white trim. Beige trim will always have yellow tones & works well with beige rooms. Hope that helps :)...See MoreNeutral off white paints for red oak wood floors, ceiling, and trim.
Comments (12)Humans are diurnal creatures. We are not bats. All due respect to other pro's , saving the planet, but the last hing I want in my home is daylight ALL the time. I especially do not want it in areas where that "day light" , even on dimmers , is not required. Lighting is no different than paint. There is not really a one type fits all . It's my experience that even the wealthiest client will walk around in near darkness, before it occurs to them to turn on a nine hundred dollar LAMP. OR , conversely, someone will flick on recessed from on high.. nearly all the time, forgetting they even OWN a lamp. An attractive and functional lighting plan is layered. It combines led, incandescent, it is high , it is low - as in ambient and task, and it can involve accent lighting in sconces, or picture lights. The weather and season will affect any paint, as will the lighting you would select for the moment and for that particular space. But to say any any kelvin, all the time , is the "answer"? No. It isn't. To me, that is akin to saying your bedroom should be lit as a potential surgical center, your kitchen as a romantic getaway, and your dining room for a tax preparation event . lol. Paint the walls as you tend to USE lighting. No matter your preference as cave dweller or surgeon. Leopards have a tendency to never change "spots"...See MoreYellow cream trim and wall color?
Comments (24)Eva. It is not going to cost you $20K to paint the trim in that house. If you think that, then maybe you live in Paris, France or something. I know people who live in 9,000sq ft houses and they certainly don't pay $20K to paint the trim in their homes. And I'm in a HCOLA area. Are you perhaps near San Francisco? I think you need to get more bids, or you need to watch some diy videos on how to paint trim in homes. You can think about it like this: if it takes a crew of 2 people working 7 hours a day about 1 week to paint the trim, then that's $20K divided by 2 people = $10,000 per worker. Divide that by 7 days, and it means they're charging you more than $1,400/day EACH. I just don't think your typical painter in California is making that kind of money. So where are you located where workers make that kind of income? Supplies for painting are not very costly. Yes, painting well takes skill, but I can do it (and do it well), simply by reading diy blogs and speaking to paint experts in Sherwin-Williams stores. It's not rocket science....See Morestellarceline
