Pool Deck- Brushed Concrete, Stamped Coping?

We are installing a 16X40 Latham "Monaco" Fiberglass pool this spring. We are outside of Boston so weather changes are a consideration. We are leaning towards brushed concrete for the deck for a simple look with some strategically placed 2x2 pavers to create walkways and some lawn areas as well. But I wonder if it's a lost opportunity to do something more? My husband does not like the look of the stamped concrete. Function is most important for me as we have 5 kiddos and will be entertaining. Budget range is most in line for concrete and pavers at our last house were a huge hassle.

Could you please share pics if you have a "look" like this? What is best for coping? We were thinking straight would be easiest for kids to grab onto. I thought maybe we could do stamping on the coping only, but then thought maybe better to keep simple. Appreciate any advice and especially pics!!!

I lkke stamped concrete for areas where you get extremes of weather I never like grass near pools it always ends up in the pool Please post a pic of the plan with pics of the materilas you are planning then we can get a better idea of what you are describing.

I'm not a fan of any stamped concrete. It fades over time, the color is not throughout the mix so if it gets chipped, you'll see the concrete underneath. Looks too fake to me. Just my opinion.

Because your budget conscious, I would pour a concrete deck. Use a nice coping stone to dress it up.

The pool is rectangle so a consideration for long coping stones in a natural material such as Limestone or Bluestone. That would be tread material 12" wide and various lengths and most stone yards stock that.

What was the outcome. We are currently having a pool repair and have the same problem. I feel they are using the wrong coping size. The men doing the tile work said it was the wrong size but the pool company told them to put it in anyway. They want to send someone tomorrow to caulk.

We've had our pool for 8 years and used pavers. A big reason for our choice was drainage. They did a great job and we've had no settling issues, there was even a leak that required repairs under part of the decking so that turned out to be a good choice. We did experience some mold in the wetter sections and weeds growing between pavers after a while. We recently hired a highly rated, professional paver company to redo the sand between the pavers which requires a good powerwash cleaning, replacement of the joint sand, machine-tamping it all, and a sealant. Unfortunately after a couple strong rains the sand was partially washed out in some areas. They came back and redid the entire job again only to have the issue repeat itself and now we're discussing next moves.

The best and only way to fix that is tear out the old concrete, backfill and compact with Class 2 roadbase, install rebar according to the requirments of a licensed soils engineer. Make sure the rebar is 3"" off of the earth and repour the concrete. There is no good way to fix concrete except tear out and redo.

The pool has many radius turns which is why concrete is the prefered choice. If a stone or paver is used it will need to be cut. You can also use a paver that is 6" x 12" to accommodate all the turns.
