Patricia Colwell Consulting - I agree the bed and nightstands don't mesh - the nightstands are more of the long term style I'm going for. We bought the bed a few years ago in haste, and it will be replaced eventually. Hoping I can make it work for a few years. So trying to decorate around the nightstands. I'm not sure what "tailored" bedding means - I'd love a lighter duvet cover. The pieces of wood are going as soon as we get a rug :)

I dont like the idea of a wall to wall shelf or any other shelf over a bed. I have visions of something coming down and landing on the occupant or occupants of that bed. I do like the color and sconces etc, in the post above by Laura. It looks great. I also would want draperies on the window. The rods should be moved out a bit, so it looks wider and put the draperies on and pull to the sides, so the window itself is open. Paint one wall white and then view it for a day or two in all lights and see just how it works in your room.

Artwork should be about 2/3 width of bed; queen bed is 60 inches so go for something around 40 inches wide? Can be one or two pictures, but one big pic is generally easier to hang etc. Target, Ross, World Market, TJ Maxx all have nice big art that might work....just look for cream not ultra white in the art; and if it makes your hear sing, go for it......any type would probably work in the room....the corners will get taken are of. Get the bed and nightstands in place and curtains hung, (check out Houzz.com or youtube to see how and where to hang curtains before you go shopping so you have an idea of what is what) This room has oil rubbed bronze curtains with long curtains, check for your room, large print over the bed, check, lamps are taller than headboard, which is a look you want, check and you could do lamps in your chosen accent color, cream, silver, brass. first and see if you like it; one decision generally means you might have two options or none for the next decision....the curtains will frame the room and soften the window angles and if the curtain color is similar to headboard it will give the room a more cohesive look; you want items to look like they go together....even when not a perfect match; avoid perfect match, rather blend is better I think. Here is another room.....large dark curtain rod, curtains hung behind bed and nightstand as an example. Quirky corner decor and corner windows with interesting curtain placement......lamps same height as headboard counting finials! Nicely made bed that relates to wall color; an idea you might consider if you cannot find curtains to match head board....a lot of cool ideas in room you might want to consider.....love the tiny chair in front of the plant stand..... PS I went to more info for this picture and it seemed that the client had the sheets already and matched/blended the paint color to the sheets.....so another custom look for little investment.....fun room with quirky corner! Hi everyone! Me and my boyfriend moved together about 2 years ago and we tried to style our house in certain ways. We have bought some furniture for our bedroom that I love (2 bedside tables and a chest-of-drawers), a bed and we couldn't find a wardrobe in the same color, so we chose one that we thought seems ok (not so sure about that now :/). Below I'm attaching some pics of our current bedroom situation. I don't want to give up on the bedside tables and my boyfriend doesn't want to give up on the wardrobe, so everything we have now must stay (except for the curtains - we can change those). We want to decorate around but don't know how to start and we're pretty afraid of failure :( I know our bedroom doesn't look really great now, but I do hope that adding some decorations would make it more beautiful. The style that we would like to have is cozy, but keeping the glam vibe too. I feel like we're totally lost and bought things we liked without thinking if they really go together or not. If you have any ideas what we can do to make this space look better, please feel free to share: starting from lamps to any other decorations. Base color we want is gray, but we haven't decided to any accent color, so anything is much appreciated. P.S. We'll place the TV on the wall, so the surface of our chest-of-drawers would need some love too.
