I've looked at the Dyson at the store.They now actually have a Dyson canister.But for the money the whole dang thing is made of plastic,and I know from experience that all those little plastic clips will break after being snapped in and out all day long.I wish Mr.Dyson would kindly swich to titanium or at least honeycomb plastic,which is stronger than what he is currently using.BTW,the salesman says that three Dyson's a week come back with broken hoses.So the day I tried the Dyson,I bought the other stick Shark with the rug beater.It's not the persuit,but one in between the forty dollar mdel and their hundred dollar special.I bought it for $64 dollars using a coupon from Linens and Things.I like the vaccuum overall,but the filter is not as nice as the one on the forty dollar model,so it needs constant emptying.It doesn't stand up on carpet,so my helper promptly broke the plastic clip that holds the hose out of the way.The engine is small,and overheats easily.That means rotating chores in a house instead of vaccuuming all the way through.Once the engine overheats,the vaccuum dies and needs several hours to cool off.Ease of use is remarkable though.I love the easy switch to attachments.It sucks up animal hair like nobodies business.My helper(and I'm using the term loosely because there is a problem with her "helpfulness") accidently threw it down a staircase severing the handle from the body .I am currently using it with handle duct taped back on.I will be buying another of these for home use,although this one is too much of a PITA to use for commercial cleaning.The day it overheated,I went out and bought a small Eureka with a hepalike filter.It's an upright,and the handle folds down.I paid $56 dollars at Walmart for it.Save your money folks.This one is a dog.It doesn't pick up anything as heavy as a bread crumb.Attachment hose falls off when extended.Brush roller sits too low to the floor and clogs easily.I'm contemplating a return for this baby.

Here's a couple more pictures. First is of the cabinet above the fridge. We made it tray storage on the top because we use a lot of trays to dine outside in the summer. I have a flip up panel below the tray storage area that I use to keep my wok and a few other things. This is sort of a dummy panel in case I ever get a taller fridge. The pantry cabinet is in the hallway between my kitchen & dining room. I used a narrow Ikea cabinet and then customized the remaining space to hold the Swiffer, brooms etc. In order to get this to work we had to knock the walls in this tiny space. It was a ton of work just to gain 4" but the pantry area now functions beautifully. A few have asked by cabinet color...it's a custom lacquer match to my the trim color in the rest of my house. The trim color was custom mix I did many years ago. It took several tries to get the lacquer to match but it was worth it. My window trim is painted with the oil trim paint and it matches my cabinet perfectly. newbie--I am not actually in Chicagoland...I'm in north central Indiana so I'm not sure it would help. The flooring integrated perfectly..you can't tell at all. We had the dining room refinished so the colors match. Theanimala--yes your pulls were my inspiration. Thank you so much! I will get the paint color formula and post it later this week. Again, thank you everyone for the kudos. For all of you still in the remodel process, don't despair. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. I thought it would never end, especially since it was mostly a DIY project, but in the end it was well worth the time and struggle. Hang in there!

@MMiller: That’s interesting on the non-alternating. That would be a total deal breaker for us. I can’t find any documentation on the KWC Sin with regards to that, will be calling them about it. The Axor Citterio, at least according to the reviews on Amazon, can switch back and forth, but I’m going to call HansGrohe about that too. @rococo: I didn’t love the spout on the Rohl. The two buttons was weird for me, I don’t know… On MGS: We saw that one, the sliding button…I just couldn’t get behind that, seemed really awkward for me. We cut out Brizo, the similar one my wife looked at for 3 seconds and said: Heck no. We owned the hands free sensate and we’re not going to buy it again. If we go the Kohler route we’ll go with the normal one. The hands-free would activate with steam in the basin and that was totally painful! We had the normal Simplice in our laundry and really liked it. It was a solid faucet, worked well, would buy it again, but it isn’t as “pretty” as some of the other ones out there and I would really like a stainless steel unit. So right now it looks like the Axor is going to be our direction on it. Since I've got you guys here: If I'm starting from scratch is it "stupid" for me to do a two hole unit? I really like two hole units, but I'm worried about resale. We're doing a major kitchen remodel, the kitchen is going to be pretty incredible in the end, I'd hate for someone to see a two hole faucet and be "eww."
