BM Revere Pewter or Gray Owl in north facing/low light room
Comments (35)Boy, I can relate to all of these posts. I have RP in my open floor plan. On the walls that have natural light, it looks OK (not my favorite) but the adjoining family room with the screened porch next to it blocking the light, the walls look like green/yellow mud and I am stressing as to what to do. My trim & cabinets are off-white so i have to stay with the warm greys. I've even tried Sea Salt which looks dull. I'm going for an LRV of 65+ so I'm trying the sample board with the Repose Gray at 75% with the idea of the adjoining kitchen/nook at 100%. We will see. Next I'll try the Gray Owl - OC 52 i think. Beware.......there are two Gray Owls! The Oc 52 is the lighter version. To complicate matters, I have a beautiful silver gray sectional sofa that I'm working with. I appreciate all of the posts here....See MoreNorth Facing LR and Warm White Fail
Comments (28)I'm not sure if I'm seeing green in the paint so much as a warm glow from your lighting. You might try a 3000K light bulb before you do any more painting. Tibb's choices give you an idea of how color plays. You should pick from the colors you like to live with. Too many people pick whites and light beige because they expect them to be safe, neutral and bright. They are just as much colors as darker choices and have just as much impact. Don't be afraid of color and don't count on walls to illuminate your reading material. If you want color, use it -- maybe buy another lamp or use a higher lumen or dayight rather than warm white bulb. If you want a light neutral, you could do a lighter greige. In SW colors that includes Accesible Beige or Agreeable Grey and others. That would be more of a tone on tone or monochromatic look in the room -- which would mean you would need soms accent colors in art, rug, pillows or other accessories. Try to look at the big picture as well as the paint on the wall....See MoreSouth facing LvgR, warm neutral paint
Comments (5)Accessible beige has a green undertone, but it’s unlikely it will appear unless it is against other elements that have heavy red or orange Tones. for a warm color you’re trying to achieve you must choose a warm color that You can live with, even if it’s just a tinge, there’s no color out there without an undertone unless it’s white or black. I’d suggest a green undertone neutral to coordinate with your yellow permanent fixtures like flooring, and you won’t necessarily see the green. Plus colors change throughout the day, it’s best to pick a color for each room that looks best during the time of day you use it the most. What about using a wallpaper to make a statement accent wall? Or a wood accent wall with picture frame moulding or shiplap/beadboard, gallery wall with a creamy ultra light white. good luck to you. Comments (2)Instead of painting on the wall, try painting on poster board, so you can move it all the way around the room. A patch painted on the wall, reflects off the existing color,so it wont give you accurate view....See MoreBecca Fehlberg
