Looking for windows with black interior and black exterior
Comments (162)We were also wanting windows with black interiors and exteriors. For us the local availability brought it down to a choice between Pella or Milgard fiberglass windows. The Pella offerings were somewhat pricier, and we could never quite understand the why of it. We wound up selecting Milgard Ultra, and we're happy with the end results. And Milgard's warranty was fantastic, as our landscaper accidentally hit one window with a stone and chipped it, but Milgard replaced the insert without so much as a blink. One factor is whether a particular manufacturer's black is acceptable to you. Milgard's is called Black Bean, which is a bit lighter than true black, and I fussed over this for quite a while. Pella's may have been very slightly blacker, but also not true black. Now that we can see the final product in place, it looks fine. Good luck on your project. Comments (34)do you have window coverings? And do you love them? What brand did you go with? House looks great. I read the link someone posted and brought up the black interior and decorating. I was thinking of just doing all black in the living areas and black out with white inside in the sleeping areas. Thanks for the quick response! :) Would love to see more pics of your house. Any idea what your exterior brand and color are?...See Moreblack exterior windows w/ white interior?
Comments (12)Kolbe Forgent black exterior windows have several white interior options: 1) white Glastra, 2) white factory painted wood, and 3) primed wood. They are also available in several wood species in case you want to stain them. Their wood interiors are an over-layment that attaches to the fiberglass interior, so the wood is not exposed to the elements outside. I just installed black exterior/white wood interior windows 6 months ago and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them and would make the same purchase again. The Glastra window frames themselves only come in two colors: white and tan (Sahara). Then, if you want black or bronze, they paint a very nice and durable coating over the white or tan Glastra/fiberglass window frames. On the outside, the entire frame is coated. On the inside, there is a portion of the frame that is uncoated, so you will see a difference between the bronze/black and the white or tan frame. (I am speaking only about casement windows and can't speak to what they do on other window types.) See photos below....See MoreCan I do black exterior/black interior windows in main living area
Comments (6)Agree with Patricia - keep your windows. You're not going to want to cut holes in your house for them later and you might really miss the light. Plus removing windows is going to affect the appearance of the house from the outside. I assume someone thought long and hard about the window placement so if you remove some you will be negatively affecting the appearance of the house. Personally I don't agree with having half of your windows one color and half another, but this is something you will have to decide for yourself. I also think the black window thing is a trend which will pass in ten years or less, but there will be people who will disagree with me on that. All I know is that white has been used for hundreds of years but black has been used only rarely on just certain styles of homes. You don't need to replace your windows very often, so whatever you do you will be living with it for a long time....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
