Paint Design Dilemma

BM Silver Satin or SW Drift of Mist? Help, I can't decide.

I need to paint my den which is about 10 x 15ft. There is one large window on the west wall, so not much natural light until early afternoon. I've narrowed down my selection to BM Silver Satin or SW Drift of Mist? Even though I bought samples and painted poster boards, I just have a hard time visualizing the entire room from a small sample. Has anyone used these colors and have a strong opinion about them? Is the Silver Satin too light? Is the Drift of Mist too drab? I'll consider other similar colors, but really don't want to go down another rabbit hole. Thanks everyone!

Drift of Mist. I've mentioned before that it's my secret 'sell/rent this house' color. Can't tell you how many people ask for the color name when they see it.

With that said, you're splitting hairs between these two colors. They're very similar. I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

Drift of Mist is a smidge darker and smidge more chroma (colorfulness).

Silver Satin is a bit brighter/lighter but it's more grayed (muted).

There's no marked difference in terms of hue. Hope that helps.

why not just get two samples and try them on your wall?? especially since they are so close!

can you paint the wall and not a poster board?

you're asking us to choose a color for you but we have no context on where it's going or what other colros will be near it. what's on the floor? color of dining set? any wainscot or trim molding in the room?

Silver Satin is equally nice. but they look almost the same.

it's pretty w/the sun coming through. do you have dark floors?

HELP! Can't choose between BM Quiet Moments and SW Sea Salt!

I sampled sea salt, quiet moments and rainwashed. In my very brightly lit, wall of southern windows (that have white plantation shutters that REALLY reflect our bright green florida lawn and our equally bright blue skies) open living space the Sea salt turned bright blue, quiet moments gray, and rainwashed bright green. All three of these colors look radically different and more like paint chip in my bright east facing bath that does Not reflect a lot of green and blue into room. i mixed 1/3 of each sample (measured with a scale for exact replicable measurements) and came out with a beautiful soft grayed green blue). Playing with other ratios today with same samples. my local paint store wouldnt take responsibility for calculating formulas based on my mad science projects, so they gave me all three individual formulas for me to calculate what i want. They will mix to those numbers. i am having them do a sample tomorrow with that formula to make sure it comes out good. good luck everyone.

I’ve been hoping for SW Silverpointe and SW Passive to have a color baby and I think BM Oystershell just might be that offspring! Maybe. :) Oystershell lands deeper into the Green-Yellow (GY) Hue Family. It's closer to Greeen (G) and it's lighter and brighter - look at Value and LRV to compare lightness and brightness. Passive has the least amount of Chroma out of the 3. Which could explain the blueness. Chroma quantifies colorfulness/grayness, clean/dirty, vivid/dull

I also selected Drift of Mist (eggshell) for walls, and have chosen Alabaster Semi-Gloss for my trim. I have a touch of Sensible Hue on the island and in the Laundry Room. North facing house with TONS of natural light. The pic from Saratoga above is encouraging. I have no idea if the alabaster is going to look okay with the Drift of Mist. My windows are white.

Thanks, I actually did put some paint on the wall, but as mentioned I'm not good at visualizing how the whole room will look once painted. Sorry for not providing more details, but the room is empty right now. It will have some wood mid-century furniture in the future. The carpet is off-white. The trim is painted SW Alabaster. Thanks again!

Ok, I'm going with SW Drift of Mist. I was actually leaning that way. It's a bit darker than BM Silver Satin which might not offer much contrast to the off-white carpet and SW Alabaster trim. Thanks for the pics because I am also considering replacing the carpet with hardwood.
