Really like your front yard shade trees. Agree with others: not a fan of the shutters. Have you checked local building codes to see what you can and cannot add and where -- you should do that before you invest any money in any additional planning or construction. It appears you already have a brown horizontal support beam across the right front of the house supporting the roof over your small stoop. Perhaps you could use that beam to help support a porch across the right half of the house (the length of that beam) that wraps around the right side w/a shed roof w/three hip corners -- one hip at the corner of the house and another at each end of the "L" shaped porch roof. Alternately: A "setback" rule might prevent you from building an "L" shaped porch that wraps around the side of the home -- but it is likely you could still add a porch across the right front half. You could still use hip corners on each end of the porch; you could also add a small forward facing gable over the entry/doorway. If you add a third floor or even just a larger dormer, the steps and access to them will likely take up floor space in your second floor even if they're atop the existing stairwell. Do consider that as you make your plans. i really like the color blocking but can't picture how to pull off the brown bottom left. or whether that's wood or what it is. the black makes sense and i've seen that done really well. interesting idea A S on the windows. i wonder if a cool tree or something bottom left would even out those little square picture windows. i keep thinking of "The Sims" whenever i see them like someone had a stamp tool and just put them in the open space.

We painted some samples on the house and now we are leaning towards Sherwin Williams Backdrop on the body of the house. We like that it looks a little grayer than Warm Stone. We feel like we have to go with something at least that dark because the house is surrounded by trees that drop a ton of stuff on it, and we have the Georgia red clay to deal with, too. Now we are struggling with deciding what colors the garage doors, fascia and gutters should be. Should we use the window trim color (Morris Room Grey) or use the body color (Backdrop)? We have plans to replace the garage door and roof eventually, but we need to figure out what looks best for now until we can do that. All advice is welcome!
