Jenna, the cost means nothing because a lot depends not only on where in the country you are building, but also the finishes you choose to put into your home. Are you doing builder basics with formica, carpet, vinyl flooring, and basic moldings, or are you planning on level 5 quartzite, marble, wide plank oak flooring, and complicated details? And that's just on the interior. My own house depending on the materials chosen could have cost $500,000 to build or 2 million plus.

He asked me not too. this is what NAF say's in the inspection report: In response to the warranty claim filed on your behalf, NAF contracted an FCITS certified independent inspector. To ensure the unbiased outcome of an inspection, NAF does not contract NAF employees, retail flooring store employees, contractors, installers or any other related business employees to perform our inspections. So, I find out that the inspector doesn't even have NWFA cert and he also works for a Flooring company in Federal Way, WA. Seems pretty deceptive to me.

I agree that carpet is not the best choice for flooring in a basement. There are two concerns with hardwood--engineered or otherwise in a basement: moisture and moisture. Specifically, moisture on the underside of the flooring and the relative humidity of the environment above the flooring. Basement waterproofing and drainage--to include gutters and downspouts to manage storm water-- are critical for minimizing moisture on the underside of the flooring. Basements typically have small heating and cooling loads so you'll likely need a dehumidifier to control the relative humidity of the space. We've had good success with glued-down engineered hardwood flooring in basements where the particular adhesive used also functions as waterproofing.

Old tile on poured concrete , put right over the old tiles after they where professionally cleaned of course, no messy removal cost as they would have been tar/glued to the concrete underneath and disposal fee, Floor is great as long as your floor underneath is solid , even if it's wood , it's all good, also this is great in the bathroom/kitchen and foyer of apartment for continuity, no issue with water whatsoever, they are solid vinyl planks that are just like brand new as of today, as I was at the building to show an apartment today
