Comments (37)Brad: I think the plant you are referring to is Lythrum Salicaria "Morden's Pink". The species Lythrum is invasive in the wetlands, but the hybrid Morden's Pink has never shown any inclination to reseed or spread. Doesn't matter. The plant police have banned it along with the thug species Lythrum in many many states. Throwing the baby out with the bath water imo....... I wish mine would have reseeded a bit in the 30 years I've grown it. I can't find any new plants of Mordern's Pink locally or in mail order. However, I did see it listed for sale at a nursery in Kentucky once. Don't know if the nursery is around you, but it is named "Wallitsch". ............Maryl...See MoreP and Q daylilies 2021
Comments (37)Boy, I miss a day and the P's explode. In no order: Mantis: Papaya Gum Drop is new to me. Hope to see more of it this summer. I think my favorite though is Patagonian Sunset. Nice color, good shot of plant. Laura: Pacific Mariner shows promise. Brad: I always like your Paige's Pinata. It and Smokey Mountain Autumn are two of my favorites of yours. Good luck on the surgery. How long do they predict for recovery? JRB451 (is there a name we can call you by other then code?) Penny Lane looks fantastic in your clump shot. Good one. I hope to see more. Nan: Princess of Alexandria is glowing. Love it. Kay: Pink Tarantula is an eye catcher in a clump Debra: All your pinks of course. Special thumbs up on your picture of Pink Extraordineire (that's a long word). David: Polly Ester. Big LOL and an interesting greenish color. Prairie Pink Lace is new to me and I really like it. Pam: Patricia Snider Memorial takes such good photos. Nice one. SHERRY: I've always liked your pictures of Pizza Crust. I doubt if the color would hold here, but for you it struts its stuff. AND Pandora's Box. I've had her for decades and in the ground too - not my usual pots. I think she spoiled me on eyed daylilies. Every time I see one I think of Pandora's Box and she's done so well for me why add more........... I hope I haven't missed anyone. So many good ones, but I've got to finish dinner now so need to run.................Maryl...See MoreShow Us Your Landscape and Gardens - A Photo Thread - March 2022
Comments (25)A little chilly and very overcast out there this morning, but my DH assured me yesterday we were due for some sun today. Looking at the forecast, for sure, by 11am sun is out, clouds are gone and stay that way the rest of the afternoon. BUT - looks like we are in for about 5 days of cloudy after that with some rain coming in Tuesday night into Wednesday. So, guess if I need to move anything, this is the time to do it. We could use a little rain too. I haven't even ventured out there to see the impact of the cold snap. Soon as it warms up a little we're outside for a change. Pruning roses today - but we're taking our time with the clean up. Trying to recover from a tough week. I don't know, what do people do who don't have gardens to help with recovery? [g] Babs, family disruptions, hoping they are behind you and you are able to enjoy the garden season. I'm hoping we can do the same. We'll see. Cold snap killing early plants and bulbs....well. I'm going to take a good look around out there today and see what suffered and what came through with flying colors. From my window I can see a patch of snowdrops still blooming that don't seem to have skipped a beat. So more of those in the fall if I can manage it. Scilla seems to usually do really well and boy does it reseed and spread. And no critters seem to bother either of those. When I looked out the door the day after the coldest morning, the Hellebore I could see was all bent over to the ground, but I see it seems to have come back up. Happy Spring - enjoy the weekend!!...See MoreFOTESS April 2022: Jug Face planter
Comments (204)Ruth, I just returned home from my MN trip. Yes, my Clematis plant from Bluestone arrived this past Monday. I have somebody who comes in to water etc, when I am gone, so I had tipped her off that something was coming from Bluestone. She opened and watered after it arrived. It was supposed to come the previous Friday but did not. My buddy said it was in very bad shape on arrival. She followed the the after arrival directions. There is some new growth starting so I think she will be fine. I am so excited about Clematis nubia.....5 inch velvet red flowers. Thanks so much Ruth for this very cool plant!! Enjoy your trip.....be safe!!...See Moresherrygirl zone5 N il
