They grow like weeds around here. They fall easily when the hurricanes hit. One almost fell on the play yard. They grow sooooooo tall and I'm not sure how much oxygen they actually produce with pine needles atm just the tops of their trunk. They're fine in a forest setting but totally a waste in the backyard. There are some old neighborhoods(probably from the 70's) around here that removed just enough to build the house so the whole neighborhood is nestled inside a forest. It's a very cozy bird haven BUT dark and not much grows in their yards, definitely not enough light for roses. Their yards are usually covered with pine needles. We use them for mulch on the beds but I wouldn't want them all over the lawn. I'm sure it feels like a dungeon inside those houses. I need sunlight to get up in the morning. I think it's o.k. clear the lot before you build your house and then selectively plant oxygen producing trees which won't fall on the house.

I have seen several dead people at funerals and maybe one before preping at a funeral home. My two parents and an uncle are the ones I remember the most. First, it was my father and then a half year later it was my uncle, followed 24 years later by my mother. I have been present two times when someone dropped dead. One time while a group of us guys were warming up to play volley ball, we all ran to the side of the floor to form teams for the evening's contest when we heard a gasp from the upper bleachers. We turned around and there in a heap on the floor was one of our members. He had died of a massive heart attack; He was about 23 yr old; It was his young wife who saw him collaspe and gave out the gasp. Back in the 1950s when I was in an engineering training program and drafting tables were the mainstay equipment for designers, I heard an unfamilar sound and turned to see one of my mentors slumping onto the drafting board. He slipped off the board and onto the floor. He had died while applying a drafting pencil to a drawing. His supervisor and two senior members rushed to his aid, but it was no use; He was gone. I'll never forget how quickly he turned an ashen gray color.

No experience, but I think if you did what Marcolo was talking about, you'd just be replacing the things you'd keep handy on the bottom shelf of the cabinet on the shelves, and the cabinet would be in the same place, or possibly lower, depending on how you set it up, as the 2nd shelf in the cabinet. It's the same wall space, just some of it is without doors. I suppose it could become an issue if you used the open shelves more for display and the cabinet contents all went up a shelf that way. Like any choice in kitchen planning, it has pluses and minuses, and may not work for everyone. It'd be a good reason to plan a spot in the kitchen to keep a step stool handy. A 6" blank spot that became a cabinet for a folding step stool was one of my favorite features in the remodel we did in our last house. I still think this shelf-below-the-uppers thing is a particularly cool option for reusing those shorter, builder's grade cabinets and getting rid of the useless open space above them, and giving the kitchen a whole, new look.

I honestly don't mean this to be derogatory or to rain on anyone's parade, but I don't really understand the draw of either of those shows. What is the interest? They are just normal people who happen to be a different size than most. They have struggles and joys and love just like we all have struggles and joys and love. I can't imagine that people are drawn to watch the shows just to see little people, but isn't that the only thing that sets them apart from most of us? That's a genuine question, really. Would the shows be just as interesting if they were regular people of normal size going through everyday life? As far as I can tell in the few times I've watched either one that their size is the only thing that makes them different from you and me. As you can probably tell, I'm not much on so-called "reality shows". But I'd really be interested to hear what it is about these 2 specifically that draws you in.
