Fridge--GE Profile vs KitchenAid 2012 CD FD
Comments (2)From my experiece with a few different KA fridges, small exposure to GE fridge, and from my reading here, I would not buy a GE fridge. Mine had frustratingly inconsistent temps, frequently froze greens in the bin, and had cheap-ish interior parts. My KAs have always been solid performers and quality products that keep produce fresh with stable temps. Not knowing anything about either brand's 2012 fridges (are they new models?), I'd buy a KA over GE any day....See MorePlease Help - Viking CD vs. Kitchenaid Fridge
Comments (3)Whirlpool owns both KitchenAid and Jenn-Air. The Viking is made by Viking in an old Whirlpool factory using Whirlpool tooling and Whirlpool designs. The fridges are almost identical if not identical mechanically. I like the Jenn-Air version best with their pro handles. They have lots of finishes including oil rubbed bronze which looks nothing like ORB hardware or faucets but I would take a look at JA dealer. Overall I think they are good fridges that are basically the same. Buy the one you feel the most comfortable buying based on looks, condition and price....See MoreHas anyone had experience with KitchenAid 36' built-in fridge?
Comments (9)I think mine's a 48" SxS KA built-in. It works fine with our only issue being the icemaker as well. Ice tends to freeze up along one side until the icemaker thinks it's full. It's not a big deal for me to reach in and break up the ice periodically - takes less than 30s every couple weeks. We did have a problem with the icemaker that was fixed under warranty. I was chatting with the technician when he was working on it, and he said all the manufacturers buy their icemaker from the same source (GE I think). Based on that, I have no great expectation that one brand's icemaker would be much better than another, but take that as hearsay. Other than that it works fine. As the guy at the appliance store said when I was contemplating subzero vs KA: "they all keep the beer cold"....See MoreFridge quandry: Which 'Bottom-Freezer, French-Door' fridge?!
Comments (13)After MUCH research , I bought a Kenmore French Door w/ice & water in the door. I previously had 3 different side by sides. My last SBS was two years old and ruined by Hurricane Ike. I also had a separate freezer in the garage that wasn't replaced. I discovered that I didn't need a separate freezer due to the extra freezer space gained with the French Door model. The French Door style accommodates larger items that will not fit in the narrow side by side freezer. I love the french door style. The ice and water feature on the outside causes the loss of some fridge space, but I was willing to make that sacrifice. My first SBS was one of the very first made by Sears, a Coldspot. It lasted 26 years or so. I hope this Kenmore will last as long. (I know I won't last that long)...See Moreloobab
