Need help with my 80's planter in foyer.
Comments (3)I hope this isn't true of your home. There were planters along a long window wall in our 1950's era ranch (near Chicago). They were full of white gravel and had fake plants in them when we bought the house. We ripped out the planters to add to the existing wood floor and discovered that the planters had no 'bottoms'. They went right down to DIRT....See MoreI need help with this two story foyer wall color.....ideas please.
Comments (16)Yes, to your first question. You can see the lower TV room ceiling here and how it opens to the foyer. That walkway measures 47" width ( including future baseboard.) I thought a post against that wall would balance the newel on the other side and allow for a "separation" between spaces? I don't know what the color should do in this area? My husband wants the darker brown for the TV room. Also, our color "cocoa" drives me crazy- it goes pinky (flesh beige) with an east facing window light-(the picture below was taken this morning) and goes blue(brown) and relaxed in the evening with sconce/lamp light. I love the color in the evening. Most mornings, I think I need to repaint! Thanks for your interest....See MoreHelp! Furniture m/ Design for Foyer
Comments (4)The foyer area under the stairway is the perfect space for a chair and a table. You can place a flowering plant or flowers on the table. That chair is where you might sit waiting for someone to pick you up, or if someone comes to hour house and is waiting for someone in your family to get ready (i.e. a friend of your children) that is where they would sit. If you get a Christmas tree, you could remove the chair and table in season and put a very tall tree right there and wind a garland up the banister. That is not an ideal place for a piano. If your children play the piano, presumably, you want to be able to sit nearby and listen, so you would want the piano to be in the family room or the living room. If you play the piano, you really wouldn't want to be disturbed by people ringing the doorbell. If you hire someone to play the piano to entertain you and your guests, you would want the piano to be in the room where you entertain your guests, not in the entry foyer. After all, this isn't Nordstrom's....See MoreI need a chandelier for this spot in my foyer
Comments (4)Hello, about 1st picture I'd suggest a classic chandelier but alway contemporary as a Venetian Chandelier 8/10 Lights or Crystal Chandelier that matches with your furniture, instead about the entrance I suggest an important and very long light pendant. In attachment some pictures. Personally I don't like matte black for the top of the stair, I prefer white or a slightly darker shade than the one used for the walls (tone-on-tone color).
