lishaana - Beautiful space, and I love the built-ins! Your cabinetry is actually very similar to ours, and I like how it is just part of the house. Our wall space is shorter than yours, but I'm sure something could still be done with it. I just thought it would be prohibitively expensive. Are those drawers or tilt-outs on the bottom? aunttomichael - Sawdust City ships very reasonably, and that's an important consideration too. They make a bench that looks a lot like the PB bench with storage underneath. bronwynsmom - I think I'm interested in the rugs for their decorative purposes too. I don't want high-maintenance though. oakleyok - I like the dark cushion too, with the white bench. Without having custom made, I'm wondering if the whites would look close but not close enough or something. Jan

thanks for writing and suggestions! The green and white subway tiles are just to give some idea of the looks and colors that are being used elsewhere in the house, as well as the brass faucets. I would like to keep somewhat to a theme throughout the home. The wallpaper pictured is the exact wallpaper in the room - and is displayed on the "tv wall" and seating area in the potential floorpan pictured. I love the look of the big, heavy drapes and sort of fell for the way they cascade on the floor.. but, open to any suggestions in ANY part of the design. The fireplace (as is) is red brick with a crown moulding surround, not the barn wood beam shown - apologies for all those suggesting! I have considered painting the brick a white or black? I do intend on using a single sofa, but can't decide on material and color. I recently came across the green leather and got a little smitten, that's why there's two sofas shown. I do not intend on using a sectional in the space but my family does a lot of lounging and insist on being able to prop their feet or lie back - my intent was to get ottomans to bring to the sofa when it is time to lounge, creating that sectional option for comfort. I definitely love the look of a wingback chair and have several in my idea book, but haven't been able to settle on a fabric or style. Work.In.Progress

Yes, that’s where the cable outlet is. Is it expensive to move cable outlets? I was thinking of putting a couch perpendicular to the door to create an entryway, then add a small table or shoe storage cabinet for keys by the door. This means we would have to move the cable outlet or go without cable and just watch Netflix and Apple TV. We would have cable in the bedroom instead. Thanks for the tip to not rush to decorate! We are adding pieces in very slowly. Just a couch and bar stools for now. We kept our old coffee table and small dining table for now. Closet storage is another big thing. We will probably buy closet units from ikea.

What if you turned the desk so the person sitting is facing out rather than looking into the mirror. Look into getting a square rug for the space. what about some floating shelves for storage on the bike wall? What is around that corner?
