Your expertise needed on my tree choices

As I recently posted on the conifer forum, I have moved from my place 4 miles down the road where I lived and gardened for some 30 years to the nearby very small town. My house is a new build and I'm hoping to do much of the landscaping this spring. (At nearly 77, I may not have a lot of springs left, so I want to do as much as possible as soon as possible.)

The soil is less acidic than I'm used to and one of my original tree choices, Magnolia virginiana, looks like it might not be happy. So I'm looking very closely at Amelanchier 'Autumn Brilliance' and Cotinus obovatus.

I'd like not only your opinions on these two small trees, but also advice on where to order from. It's been many years since I've done any serious ordering, and most of the nurseries I trusted and loved are gone. I'm especially worried about actually finding a source for the Cotinus.

Thanks in advance.
