Unbalanced bed placement/sliding door

Pamela Miles

In order to let as much light into the room (and second floor of our townhome) we need to place the king size bed to the left of center on the wall. We like to keep the blackout drapes open all day.

I’m looking at purchasing a shorter headboard bed (Thuma) but I could also use suggestions on how to decorate above the headboard. And what to do for nightstands? I’d like lights on each side of the bed, as we read each night, so right now we’re using clip on lights. How can I add reading lights (sconces or pendent?) without looking even more unbalanced? Please help!

Dimensions:
8 ft ceiling
Bed wall width 15’ 4”
King bed width 80”
Sliding glass door width 6’
Right side of slider (including 3 1/2” case & trim) 15”
Bathroom wall width 71”
