Stealing 2' from the bathroom to grow the bedroom ??

B B

We ve about 19.5 feet of interior width at the back of our home and are trying to fit in a master bedroom with a king size bed, and a washroom.

The two natural options are to have a 12'5 wide bedroom (by 12.5' deep) and a 7' wide bathroom, or a 14.5' wide bedroom with a 5' wide bathroom.

Mentally, I think that a 5x10 and a 7x10 bathrooms are going to feel similar size, sure a bit more breathing room but its still tub, vanity, toilet, whereas the extra 2 ft in the bedroom will make a big deal with a king bed and having to fit dressers/wardrobe in.

What does everyone think? We are trying to avoid bumping out an addition to save costs.

Two sketches, and the existing conditions attached. The "walk in closet" is now a small nursery for toddler.

5ft wide bath:

7ft wide bath:

Here is what the 2nd floor currently looks like. We are essentially bumping out to recover what is currently kneewalls/attic, creating a master bedroom at the back (with the current bath as ensuite), creating a kids bath in what was the walk-in closet, and two new kids bedrooms upfront in what is currently the larger bedroom.

Thx !
