White vs off white walls/baseboards
Comments (0)Hi all, I'm hoping someone can give me some advice. We just moved into a new home and our walls are white..,,at least I thought they were white. I now realize that Pearl, a custom SW color is more of an off white....this is on the walls, doors, ceilings and baseboards. It actually looks ok as we have medium wood floors throughout but I did white tile in the bathrooms and now I'm really seeing how NOT white the paint is. My challenge is trying to figure out what colors to paint several walls. I want to go with a gray color but did a test spot and the gray next to this off white makes the moldings look dingy and almost yellowy. I don't know whether I should paint the moldings a white white (but then would need to do the doors, trim AND the ceiling?) or find a better gray that makes the off white look whiter! Is it odd to have different baseboard colors in different rooms? Is also starting to bother me as I realize my bedding is white white and near these walls you can really see the difference. I really don't want to have the whole house painted over in a whiter white....what paint will look ok with these off white moldings?...See MoreSo many whites!! PPG vs BM vs SW and color matching...
Comments (118)@Lori A. Sawaya Happy Thanksgiving !! I am looking to get some idea before appointment as first time buyer for Kitchen. I am looking for 2 tone kitchen cabinet, Thanks a ton for above thread, upper could be PPG Dedicate white and lower equivalent to BM Hale Navy, would you please help to find equivalent of BM's Hale Navy on PPG, I checked Cavalry & Annapolis Blue both are near to that but I am not sure, if those are accurate. Ceiling : PPG Dedicate White, Trim - PPG Dedicate White , Counter - White & Grey Granite, Cabinet : Upper Fixture : PPG Dedicate White, Lower : BM Hale Navy equivalent., Island : BM HN, South Facing large open concept Kitchen with Family Room, Breakfast Nook : PPG Whiskers equivalent to Agreeable Grey. Comments (6)I would bring sample paint chips to where your slab is (paint chips or sample cabinet doors with your chosen paint on it). The lighting will most likely be different there than your home light, but it should give you a good idea of how the colors blend together. I would also try to get a sample of your slab and bring it home along with your sample paint chips/cabinet doors. I would not automatically paint your cabinets the color of your home doors and trim because unless you’ve matched up your slab to the color of your home trim, you could be making a huge mistake. It’s a lot easier to paint the trim in your kitchen to match up with your cabs and slab than to have to repaint your cabinets should you find that when the slab goes in there’s a terrible clash....See MoreOyster White vs Lennon vs Fantasy Brown granite for Off-White Kitchen
Comments (14)Thank you very much for the advice. I like Fantasy Brown a lot. I am not sure if it would work in my counter with the seam at the corner. It seems like pieces of Oyster White or Lennon are easier to join together discretely. Also, with the small appliances on the counter - microwave, toaster, coffee maker and kettle - I am not sure how much granite flow I will be able to see at a time. Is Oyster White look too simple in your opinion? What backsplash do you suggest to make it more visually interesting? What color of the floor tile is the best? My kitchen opens to the hallway/living room with red oak floor. I prefer not to have hardwood in the kitchen....See MoreLori A. Sawaya
