It will work. You can use either eggshell or matte on the ceilings, and either satin or semi gloss on the trim. Your choice.

What about color? The sheen is one thing.

Do I stick with the Swiss Coffee (off white) on the walls and Super white on the ceilings and moldings? Or just Swiss Coffee throughout.

I guess I am worried if I switch up the ceiling and molding to a different shade of white it will all clash.

Swiss Coffee and Super White are very pretty together. They work because there's ample difference in Chroma and also the hue family relationship. Technically it's a solid combination, so it's just a matter of if you think it's pretty and harmonizes well with the contents of the space.

I would do the ceiling the same color AND finish as the walls. Use the same color but higher sheen on the trim.

Accent Wall - Satin - Anchors Aweigh

Specific product matters but in general dark colors require more colorant and more colorant contributes to sheen. I would not do an accent wall in AA in satin. And it'd simpler to just do it matte to match (as much as possible) the Swiss C.

Any gloss on ceilings is always a risk - even matte. Because any degree of gloss emphasizes flaws and imperfections. It's difficult to prep a ceiling free of imperfections. Which is why flat is recommended for ceilings.

I hate to complicate your decision, but I am wondering about the colors in the rest of the house.

Will the other rooms also be Swiss Coffee walls, ceiling, trim? I had a white on white home and used the same color on walls, trim and ceiling. Walls were eggshell, trim was satin, ceilings were flat. I made the mistake of using the eggshell on ceilings many many years ago and it was on a ceiling that was not finished well. Because of the sheen light bounced off every seam. My ceiling looked striped. In my current home I used the same paint on the walls and ceiling in the bathrooms. The ceilings in this house are as smooth and perfect as the walls. I will still use flat in the larger, moisture free rooms. Most homes do not have near perfect ceilings.

I have also had times where some of the rooms were near white and some had more color and times where I had mid tones throughout.

No matter what your doing you need to have a plan that makes the look as you go from one room to the next feel cohesive.

For me, the all white was definitely the easiest. One color, multiple finishes.

When I decided to change things up a bit I kept the same whites on the ceilings and trim throughout the house and just changed wall colors, making sure that each choice worked with the wall colors in the adjacent rooms.

When I decided to go darker and picked mid tones the white on the ceilings were too much of a contrast for me. I really like the "Ceiling is a 5th Wall" concept. The problem was, I didn't have consistent flooring throughout the home. If the flooring, wall color and ceiling color changes as you move from room to room it will give a disjointed feeling to the home. You need something that joins them together. I used the mid toned neutral from the main living area for the walls and ceilings in the main living area and for the ceilings in the other rooms. (Was given this advice by a Gretchen Schauffler, founder of Devine Color Paint). I also kept the trim color consistent from room to room. In my current home I will have consistent flooring throughout except for 3 rooms. Foyer, guest bedroom and guest bath. This is a deliberate design choice that works with the layout of the home. The trim throughout the house will again be consistent, but the ceilings are matching the walls in each of the rooms.

Every time you choose to change one room and don't give thought to the surrounding spaces you run the risk of either having a disjointed space or having that one room cause a domino effect and moving from room to room fixing what is now wrong and causing angst.

Will Swiss Coffee trim and ceilings look good throughout the home or do you only want this in the bedroom? If not I may still do Swiss Coffee on the ceiling, but would pick a lighter white that has more versatility than Swiss Coffee for the trim so I would be able to use the trim color throughout the house.
