Hey Amberleys! You have a really lovely open space, if this was my own home I would move the sofa so that it partitions the dining room and living area, facing the french doors so that you can relax while admiring your garden. You can then place an entertainment unit or large sideboard against the wall where your sofa currently is, you can get some really pretty ones which you can place your CD's into and stereo on top. An old farmhouse display would look lovely - depends all on what kind of style you like. I would then place the playpen in the corner where your stereo is at the moment when not in use and a storage unit for toys against the same wall - Ikea have some really great units for toy storage. Without seeing photos of the room, I’d say put the tv on the 13 ft. Wall and the sectional against the other long wall with the other side with its back toward the stairs. Is that squiggly line a window? A single chair might fit between the sectional and the room that has a d in it. Coffee table in front of the sectional, end table with lamp in the corner where the two long walls meet. Maybe a floor lamp where the sectional halves meet, an arc lamp if your style will support it. photos of the space would help. If you make furniture templates to scale you can rearrange them on the plan without straining your back or making purchases that don’t work.

1) wall may be structural 2) you may have to replace all the flooring if you remove it, unless you have more on hand 3) I'm confused, because it looks like the dining room is already in the main space, up by the kitchen/window where there's a chandelier hanging down. then I see two ceiling fans worth of LR space. the more enclosed room to the left looks like an additional/separate room, maybe intended as an office, or as a more enclosed space (family room) for TV watching. if you open it up, you need to think hard about where you are going to put the TV with furniture facing it, and how you will subdivide the rest of the space. If you can draw a sketch of the floorplan, with measurements, including things like whether there's a closet near the front door, we might be able to rough in some different arrangements to help you visualize what you might be able to do with the spaces. It's a bit too hard in the abstract to tell whether this is all one big seating space, or whether it's big enough for an entry zone or game table and a separate conversation area, and what would happen if you added in yet more LR space...

You might try flipping the dining room and living room areas. We think the TV might work well on the blank wall where you have the dining room. Then we might place the dining room table on the angled wall next to the kitchen. See our designs here for a few other design ideas.
