OOOOHHHH. AAAhhhhh. I really admire your vision. I love the way you made your renovation "fit" the bones of your home so much. I've been looking at Ikea to create a very similar "pantry wall" - may I ask if you used 15"-15"-24"-15"-15" cabinets/Rubrik doors? Are they 12" or 24" deep? They appear to be 12", however it is difficult to tell. Did you use Perfekt Nexus cabinets on their sides to create the top? I love how it adds to the rhythm. Hi- We are in the process of choosing a color for our mid century and after sampling 36+ colors I'm totally confused! We have to work with the stone on the facade along with the color of the soon to built wood deck (thinking aged grey stain). At some point we are also replacing the windows with black aluminum frames and the front door. Trying to decide the color combination for the beams, stucco and wood. At this point we are thinking white stucco, with dk. brown or charcoal beams and trim, but have also contemplated BM Cromwell Grey, Eagle Rock or Iron Gate as main house color. Anyone have a good suggestion? Thanks so much!!

If restoration is the goal then you should try to keep the existing materials. Repair the cement panels if possible. Is the 2nd floor siding in bad shape or is it just the paint? You don't provide any closeup but I don't see warped or cupped boards. Sanding off old paint and repainting would IMO be preferable to changing the siding orientation from vertical to horizontal. I'm answering your question in hopes of bumping it back to the top of the questions. You really need to talk with an architect or remodeler who knows where to find the materials for repair or replacement.

Real farmhouses in the 50s and 60s had mid-century modern elements. Houses in the country in the 50s and 60s had mid-century modern elements. But..neither the farmhouse and country elements of those homes nor the mid-century modern elements of those home were, as Live_Wire pithily put it, the Disney theme versions of those design trends. If you don't go over-the-top with "farmhouse" or "country", I think it can all work together well. But when you are working without a net (an inspiration pic, in this case, of the elements you want to combine), a mood board, or even better, a real mock-up, is your friend. Putting all the elements together on paper, or on computer screen will let you see how everything works together and give you a chance to course correct.
