Corner Drawers instead of Lazy Susan?
Comments (37)toddimt! Thanks so much! I just measured across the opening last night, because my husband had me worried that there just wasn't enough room for anything in that little space! It's over 17", so once the carpenter finishes I think it'll be perfect. I was so so happy to see those specs. Carpenter is out of town so I can't ask him. Are you pleased with your drawers? Can you fit much in them? Do you wish you'd put in a Super Susan instead? I'm still very excited to get the drawers, but I'd love to get other opinions. Thanks so much for your quick reply....See Moreafter market lazy susan install
Comments (9)"the lazy susan shelves cut to size" Hmm. NOt sure why you'd have to cut them to size. Just buy the size you need. Anyone can put them in. It's just a pole and shelves and the thingy to keep the shelves in position. Oh, and some screws in the top and bottom to hold everything in place. You can buy the lazy susans everywhere. Want my list from where I looked today? I'm about ready to get mine at overstock. What door design are you getting? My tops are diagonal but my bottoms are hinged in the center. I'm sure the reason the larger susans need to go in first is because of the size of the pole/shelf, door opening, interior size of cabinet. You need manuever room. For the 32 and 36 it would be slick to just drop it straight down into the cabinet before counter top. Trying to get it inside the cabinet through the door and then assembled would be impossible....See MoreFull circle lazy susan with diagonal door
Comments (12)Another advantage to the V cut out is that it is significantly easier to remove heavy items. The rotated shelf protrudes OUTSIDE the cabinet and lifting heavy items up through that clearance is much easier, especially with items on the bottom shelf. i just measured. The rotated shelf protrudes nearly six inches beyond the inside corner of the cabinet top. A big help when lifting a food processor. A susan built for a single door, (D shaped) will also protrude when rotated, but much less. Suggestion: Take some newspapers, tape them together to make large enough sheets, and make mock-ups of the shelf space you can have. Then compare what you gain or lose with the two kinds of doors. If your cabinet maker will custom build the susans, you can usually make them significantly larger than the ready-made ones which sometimes leave way too much dead space. You don't need more than an inch between the edge of the susan and the cabinet walls....See Moreentrance door clearance for lazy susan
Comments (7)The back to front dimensions will be counter depth, only about 24", won't they? It won't be able to be carried straight through but there may be a way. They will need to start the cabinet through the door on that 24" end, then rotate it on an imaginary axis at the center of the angle to maneuver it the rest of the way through. There needs to be room on both sides of the door to allow this rotation. It is also fairly easy to remove and replace the projecting part of the door frame on either side to give about another inch of space....See Moretheresa21
