Pink brick house, accent color dilemma
Comments (29)As others have said, there are simply too many, disparate forms, shapes, colors, textures, details, and tomfoolery! The best strategy, IMO, is to look for ways to unite and blend together as many of these unrelated objects as possible. Reduce the amount of contrast, don't increase it. Less is truly more. More is a bore!...See MoreExterior accent colors for red orange brick house

Comments (6)Start with power washing the house, especially the roof, which takes up a large amount of visual space. The overall initial color impession is browns and reds. That's why your shed really doesn't blend well with the house. IMO, embrace your brown roof and the reddish brick and not try to go gray/blue. A light sage green might be a great compromise for trim. I wouldn't put shutters up at all. They don't particularly suit the house and it would save you some time and money to remove them. Paint the shed the same color as the trim you choose. As budget allows, get a landscape designer to plan extended garden beds in front to showcase your house with a mix of perennial grasses, shrubs, and flowering plants. That will do more for your house than the shutters and give you more visual pleasure....See MoreHelp please: New siding and trim accents for red brick house
Comments (3)It is highly unusual to have wood clad siding mixed with brick on a Georgian Colonial style house. I was thinking that board and batten would not work but then I came across this house. I think what makes it work is that the battens are low profile and space wide apart. It looks good. This isn't board and batten, but it would look good on your house. Something similar on the inside is called judges paneling. Notice how the the siding under the three windows is done on the house below. I also like the colors on this house. When you repaint, I would use a low contrast scheme. White on white would look good. Your windows are lined up so it doesn't look off that they are closer to one side. But I would remove all the shutters, since that don't fit the windows....See More- 2 years ago
