Fire Stick 4K with a new smart TV?

I recently bought a Hisense QLED/ULED smart TV. I noticed a couple of customer reviews mentioned the usefulness of their Amazon Fire Stick. I was surprised because I thought the TV's "smart" features eliminated the need for the Fire Stick. But it was recommended that I not get rid of mine. So we set it up with the Fire Stick plugged in.

The other night I used the Fire Stick remote to find something on Amazon Prime. It worked okay, but the next time I turned on the TV my home screen had changed--and not in a good way. I tried removing the Fire Stick from the TV, but when I did that I lost wi-fi connectivity. I got that back to normal eventually, but I'm not eager to use the Fire Stick remote again.

Now I'm wondering if I should upgrade the Fire Stick to the 4k version. What do you think? It's on sale now. Or should I figure out how to use the TV without it entirely? Thanks!
