NOW what do you think will happen to materials prices?
Comments (5)I think there has to be some sort of equalibrium point below which the price of sheet rock or a 2x4 won't drop. A point where everyone along the chain is making enough money that it makes more sense to keep going than to close shop. Prices can go below that for limited periods when shifts in supply and demand make it more important to move inventory than make money, but it can't stay below it for long. Flgargoyle is certainly right that energy is a big part of the equation. The oak veneer ply I bought yesterday was made of trees grown here, shipped as logs to China, milled and shipped back. And people worry about locally grown produce......See Moreappliance prices --what do you think?
Comments (10)Thanks everyone for our input. Sorry it has taken so long for me to get back to you. I am still "out there" trying to make a decision. Don't know what's wrong with me. I am usually so decisive. I'm having a hard time with the Miele oven for a couple of reasons. 1) that I would be buying them from a dealer 60 miles away who will no longer be selling Miele and I'm concerned about service. 2) I'm kind of an old dog and all the 18 or so cooking modes scare me. Will I use them? Will I even figure out how to use them? 3) I'm not in love with the style. On the other hand would love to save the extra $. Weissman, thanks for the input on the KA DW. I pine for a DW that is silent (if there is such a thing) since kitchen is wide open to great room and dining room. From your description, I'm not sure KA fits that bill. What do you think? I could go either way with heated dry. Akchicago and Weissman, you both make great points about built in espresso but I do love the look and it would be so so easy to use. We do love our lattes and mochas. :)Plumbing wouldn't be a problem. Everything is torn up so could put unit in butlers pantry next to sink just as you come down the steps from the master and head into kitchen. But then I could just as easily put a free standing unit there too. Yikes, see what I mean about decision making. I can talk myself into and out of anything in 2 seconds flat! Whenzuc, you definitely scored on your SZ. I don't really WANT the LH door and it wouldn't work as well for me but thought if price was fab could go with it. If I could get your great price I would jump on it but now I'm thinking pay a few extra $ and get what I want and need. Could that possible be a decisive statement?!? Antss, why miele over wolf? do you have new navatronic with all the different menus? If so is it hard to figure out? Self clean or perfect clean? any warranty issues? Love that someone else likes the espresso makers. How's the espresso? Your right about JA but it seems like lots of people I know have them and are happy with them. Also, they are better looking tham some of the others. Do you really think Monogram compares with SZ? My service guy (that I truly love and trust) told me to stay away from GE at all cost. Once again, thank you all so much. Hope to hear more. Have a wonderful, happy, healthy New Year...See MoreCL ~ What do you think of these and the price?
Comments (17)bumblebeez - That's funny that we both had snakes. I caught ours with a "grabber" too! Put it in a huge glass jar with some hole punched parchment paper, rubber bands around the top. Then my daughters boyfriend took it home to release at his house. We want to see if any others show up and didn't want to think it was the same snake. caramia - I was sure it was a rattle, because it was curled up, striking and that tail was going a mile a second! LOL However, my daughters boyfriend said he thought it was a corn snake. We have had rat snakes appear at our previous home, and they were huge black looking snakes. I am sending the photo to a friend that works at a wildlife preserve to identify the snake. lyban - We live in NE Tennessee. I think the stools were a great buy, and DD's boyfriend love them!...See MoreAirline prices....what do you think?
Comments (15)Yes, flights between European cities are inexpensive (well, some of them - depending on departure or destination airport, time of year, time of day, etc.), but they're frequently on the no-frills airlines as mentioned above. We subscribe to a couple of cheap flight notification services, which is why we're going to London next month. Got an email that r/t flights from most US airports to London were under $500. So I checked - they were - we bought - we're going. Delta out, Virgin Atlantic back. Virgin Atlantic is an amazing airline, and one of my top-two favorite for international flights. The other is Lufthansa. That same cheap flight notification service also got us a great deal to Paris in November (less than $600 R/T) on Delta and Air France. When international flights are that cheap, we just up-and-go. Paris will be a bit more expensive because we'll have to pay for hotel rooms. (We have a pied-a-terre in London.) I also only take carry-on luggage for trips lasting up to two weeks. I'm an expert packer. lol...See MoreHU-327447601
