Confused about Bullnose tile

Hi. I'm renovating my main bathroom. We have a standard 60" alcove tub/shower that will be tiled with a light gray/blue subway tile. I have a marble mosaic tile for the floor that is white and has a similar gray/blue insert. I've attached photos here. My contractor is saying that I need to pick out some "bullnose" tile to finish the transition between the tiled shower wall and the drywall, as well as the edges around the shower niche he's building.

My issue is that the ceramic subway tile I picked out for the tub/shower walls, doesn't have a bullnose companion option. So what do I do? Would it look awful to have a totally different color? Would a plain white bullnose work with this color, do you think? If it's a completely different tile, does that look odd?

My plan is to add a bit of color with the paint on the walls in the room. We aren't tiling the walls at all, I've never liked that look in a bathroom, so I'm going to risk going with a water resistant paint like the Benjamin Moore Aura spa paint.

Look at schluter strip - it comes in colors as well as metals - good transition when there are no bullnose tiles to finish it off.

Pick a tile that does have bullnose.

I would recommend getting the corner bullose pieces if they are available. It looks like more thought went into the process. I feel like, when I see improvised pieces, that the tilesetter just used what was on hand. imo.

If you're going to go corner to corner, you can do it either way-- either tile the two "wing walls first, and then measure the mirror to fit, or set the mirror in first, and cut the tile to it. Either way is just as acceptable and will work just as well.

I think you would be making a very big mistake. Your stairway would not look good with tile - even wood-look tile. If one uses that, it really should be done at the time of construction to make it work properly. I can't imagine why anyone would want tile on a stairway unless it was a Spanish/Mediterranean house and then the tile would be red and look like tile.

Agree with Schluter. I used the basic metal Jolly trim for my bathtub and niche edges. It's way cheaper than bullnose, and it gives a nice clean finish. Happy to post photos if you'd like.

You can also use a slim white marble liner piece for a little contrast.

Maybe a white 6" bullnose would frame the wall time and integrate with the white in the floor tile.

Has anyone had the Schluter on the wall for any length of time? I'm just a bit concerned about using that, because I had an old 70's style kitchen with chrome trim on all the formica countertops (prior to our renovations), and it looked awful, and it was pitted in spots, etc. I'm wondering how a metal piece will do in a wet environment like a shower? @Carrie B If you do have some photos of it you can share, that would be great.

Schluter is made for wet areas and comes in a variety of finishes. I use it in over 75% of my bathroom designs. Here are a few images.
