Will this work as a TV stand if I paint it?
Comments (25)I think the sofa table painted black could work. I would be a little worried about the brass colored edging. Wonder if it could be painted over? Could look nice if it could be made to match the silver of the mirror. One possibility with the cabinet is remove the doors as you suggested, and then possibly add dark colored glass doors to make it look more purposeful as an entertainment center. In general, the trouble I have with this piece in your living room is that you have a very clean cut look - and really it's very striking. The mantel is a very hard edge on the top, while this hutch has a rounded edge. By taking the doors off, it could make the piece fit in better. If you were more into eclectic or cottage style, then the hutch would be an obvious fit. If you do use the hutch, I would recommend using sleeker brushed nickel drawer handles that don't dangle & clang. Is the hutch solid/real wood? If so, I would play first with the sofa table because it is a more dated style that really wouldn't be hurt by paint/updating. If the hutch is solid wood, then there would be more value in keeping the wood visible, imo. Overall, I have to say that I really, really like your living room. It is simple, yet very eye catching in a sophisticated subtle way....See MoreIs this media console going to be too small for TV?
Comments (16)@Salina its unfortunately a very small wall, that’s why we are painting the wall and ceiling the same color, per our color consultant. Ive been looking around but having trouble finding real wood without veneer, made in the USA, over 70 inches but also small enough to be able to fit a small piano to the left side, with doors and shelving, and 3k or under. If you have any suggestions, please let me know! At this point though, I can get a 55” TV instead of the 65” that’s taped up. Its just for the kids and their video games, not for big movie viewing. So hard to find quality furniture nowadays that doesn’t break the bank. 😬 Edit: Everything I read online says 25% larger for console table or 3 inches of overhang on each side. So I was thinking a 74” console would be okay with the 65” TV because the width is actually 57.2” not 65”. My blue tape may be off haha....See MoreNeed ideas for a thin tv stand for a small living room!
Comments (9)Where else would the television logically go excep that wall. The television in my bedroom isn't mounted to the wall but is actually mounted to an extension that pivots the television so that I can point it to the chaise if necessary 😆 For the most part I just have it pointed straight but it does have the capability to be viewed at different angles....See MoreBuilt-ins too small for Samsung Frame TV
Comments (15)We need more details on exact measurements for the TV and the openings and areas for potential. Also, what is outside the windows/ doors to the left of the mantle? Do you have a lovely view or one you prefer to hide? Do you need privacy? All these factors will play into what goes above the mantle and where to locate the TV. We also don't see any of the other walls in your room. However, if the TV doesn't fit above the mantle (or if you're dealing with too much glare by the window/ door) so that it cannot be placed there, you still have other options. My pic shows the area I would say to cut out of the built ins - have it done professionally by a finish carpenter! Eliminate the top and bottom short shelves which are above and below the TV - it's too much visual clutter around the TV... you need it more open....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
