I would probably have one that went from the corner to your left to the doorway which I am assuming would be closer to 12 ft?

I have no idea what your budget or general esthetic wishes are, but two options would be to look at broadloom companies that make patterned carpet as stair runners of which you can get something cut to length, or to look at vintage or new persian rugs, some of which are also made to act as stair runners and are longer. A friend of mine had one that was probably 35 feet long down a hallway that ran almost the entire length of the house. The thing about persians, especially old ones is that they may have a distinct curve to them as opposed to running perfectly straight. So for you that may be terrible or it may be "character" depending upon your outlook. The other (potentially) nice thing about handwoven rugs is that they can be very worn and still look nice. Mine are mostly 50-100 years old and some are almost threadbare in some areas but they still look good to me.

I was also going to suggest vintage. Try Zuma Imports and Old New House….I have bought several runners from them.

If you are wanting something that is less of an investment piece, look at this one. DD has this rug in a larger size in her hearth room. Although she has a couple of beautiful persian rugs in the house, she wanted something that would not be damaged by small children being small children (art projects, clandestine food and drink, etc). It has taken a load of abuse from 3 small children and one large dog and it still looks nice.

It is thin and needs a good pad under it to help it look decent. The fringe is short enough that the roomba doesn’t get stuck on it.

If a very long suitable rug proves to be too hard to find and/or too pricey, go with 2 shorter ones. Make sure the gap between the 2 doesn’t fall at a doorway or stairwell.

Our hallway has a 14 ft wool runner in a nuetral color that while not spectacular ”works” in the space. We couldn't find a long runner locally but purchased this one from overstock at a reasonable price. one longer rug does look better than two put together IMHO.

I have a hallway that needs a 20' runner. I now have two approx 10' runners in my hallway, definately not the best quality, and they drive me crazy. They are made out of outdoor rug material, but I bought very nice rug pads to go underneath (didn't help) and all they do is slide around-so frustrating! I'm sure my saltillo tile floors don't help any. I am going to bite the bullet and buy a top-notch 20' southwestern-style runner very soon-I'm going to start looking next week. Would love to buy one in Taos or Santa Fe, but very strict right now, due to Covid.

DD has a 10’ long Ruggable runner in her back hall. With 3 kids and a dog, it gets washed with about every 2 weeks. She’s only had it a couple of months. The short edges are rippling and the body of the rug has tiny wrinkles in it. She’s not happy but is going to tough it out for a while longer.

The door to the corner wall is just over 12ft… 12ft would stop in the stairway. 13 would be too long and go past the corner into the living room too much i’d think. I hope i’ll find something that is juuust perfect.

Otherwise, just want to be sure… visually it would better for the rug to cover all of the hall at the top of the stairs vs stopping at the wall just before the stairs… ie. probably a 9-10ft. hope that makes sense…thanks
