You know you've been hanging out on GW too long when....
Comments (38)Dirtex???? Sheesh...I've even seen at some grocery stores 'round here! Yeah...we DO tend to throw around some acronyms! Signs I've been here too long... * When one of our decorator's is visiting with a customer, I find myself thinking, "What would Funcolors do here..."? * ...if I stare at a good-lookin' Lady (SLYLY of course!), and then suddenly duck, 'cuz I think Moonshadow will throw a frypan at me... * Wondering why I felt like I had to "check-in" with my GW-friends...EVEN WHEN I WAS AT THE Maui Four-Seasons!!!! * Wonderin if I've started anyone saying "UFFDA" yet... ;-) Faron...See MoreBaby Shower Fall Decor Conundrum. Comments (10)My DD just recently did a one year old baby girl birthday party using a cute "woodland" theme featuring owls, birds, etc in pastels (blues, greens, pinks, yellows). It turned out very girly. She picked up some odds and ends at Party City and Hobby Lobby, ordered some things (paper products and cutler) that coordinated with it from Oriental Traders. It was VERY CUTE and could be used for a baby shower. DD has a talent for mixing and matching - she threw in some of those "gawdy" paper lanterns in solids, some coordinating polka dot balloons, etc and created a beautiful party for baby girl. Here is a link that might be useful: Woodland Owl party examples...See MoreConundrum with architectural style and decor...
Comments (8)I cannot imagine any reason to tailor the furnishings of a house to the exterior of the house. Yes, there are exceptions. If you move into a Philip Johnson glass cube, you may need to rethink a few things- but even then, not much (see the Krieger Museum in the DC suburbs for an example- lovely Johnson house, lots of Louis XV furniture and it really works.) A suburban house with no architectural style should not dictate your furnishings. It sounds like you have lovely things. Enjoy them in your new surroundings....See MoreFlex Room - Foyer Conundrum
Comments (8)A DUMMY Arcitect gave a new meaning to "flex room" . BULL _ _ _ _!!!#$%%^^& DO THIS, Thank me later This? Below? It's a joke.......an OFFICE? You want to sit down there ? If you do, you build in a nice long desk, where I put the closets. You make it no more than 20 inches deep, and tuck a chair beneath. And you put the closets and what may have been potentially great storage, BACK into the Foyer and crummy by pass closet the arch designed. But I wouldn't. I honestly would not. Why? This is not flex. I have never seen anything as thoughtless. Make yourself an attractive friend entry. Buy a nice bench to suit, it's a great spot in foyer for a guest to remove a wet or muddy shoe. Add a rug you love! Add a lovely console, mirror and lamp. This can be left "on" for a nice evening glow. You will enter mostly from Garage, Build in a bench seat, add hooks for the handy jacket, tote, package set down. A basket for shoes below. It'll be a mere 36 wide, but it beats nothing. THE REST? LOL.......You give yourself a ton of closet/storage. You forget "music rooms, sofa's and anything else. Thank me later. Laziest architect plan I have ever seen. Or stupid labels to the spaces...See MoreBeverlyFLADeziner
