Hey Oberon!! can you drop me an email?? what I would like to see is homes designed with the ductwork in the conditioned space, then duct leakage would be to the interior of the house and not the exterior. there are so many real world problems with duct leakage/return leakage and so many oversized units to make up for the leakage. HO gets 5 tons on 2500 sq ft home..if house leakage were reduced and duct and return leakage reduced to 5% then unit is oversized... one of the biggest misnomers is that a bigger unit is better. what really happens is that unit short cycles costs more to use per month, doesn't run long enough to remove humdidty..and because of all the stops and starts has a shortened life. high efficient hvac is only as good as the install. in my latest training class they did a calculation that blew me away... I've seen a lot of home with R-38 attic insulation, with attic staircase in the conditioned space. so when uninsulated attic staircase is included with little to no R-value the overall attic insulation is reduced to R-25...now throw a bunch of IC rated recessed cans (not air tight ICAT) one equals one sq ft of uninsulated attic..what do you have now??? insulation that can't perform because of air movement through the insulation.. efficiency always costs more upfront, but it is the length of time it takes to pay back that cost that makes one option preferable to another. green is 80% energy efficiency and 20% everything else (joe lstriburek of buildingscience.com) I would like to see an energy efficiency forum here.

We still don't know what branch of the Federal Government besides FBI CIA AND other Security agencies USPS workers are Federal agents too! They have badges and take training. I was glad Bob won. I think Susie was a deserving second place. Susie gets dogged for riding coattails, but middle age/older females generally don't do well in this game. They aren't physical and usually they don't get much resect from the youngsters. Slow and steady gets it. She was useful around camp. She won two immunity challenges. I wouldn't have been upset if she won because she did what it took to stay in the game. She was a little annoying, but not really mean like some of the others. That tribal council was one of the worst I've seen. I didn't expect that many people other than Randy and Corrine to be so bitter. Crystal redeemed herself. She had a lot of graciousness and just admitted she sucked. I really figure out what was up with Charlie and his cuddling. I liked him better before that. I'd expect Marcus to be more gracious. I was reading some stuff about Charlie, Marcus, and Corrine coordinatng outfits for tribal council. I started watching for it last night. That was too funny.

Yesterday's network news describes a rescue of a toddler locked in a closed car in a Kansas parking lot (very hot weather too). Video shows a woman attempting to smash and open up the auto safety glass with a tire iron. Safety glass is intentionally designed to NOT break open from relatively blunt impacts. However it will explode when a fine point is sudden forced against it (there is a sweet spot as well as areas that are less likely to yield). I have a spring punch in my center console, but a neighbor has the ResQMe product and I'm going to buy a couple of those since that device also has a seatbelt cutting tool and fits onto a keychain. (Someone at a B Q showed me his very cinched tight seatbelt from an auto accident -- I don't know how anyone was supposed to release that belt after it tensioned so tightly. If we _routinely_ grab our cell phone, briefcase, purse or laptop, but do not routinely have a young one with us, this technique may help prevent a child from being forgotten in a car. If, once at the office (wherever), a purse, laptop or mobile phone need could have us racing to a parking lot. With regard to the kid's invention. People can jury rig a similar setup. Marine suppliers sell thin, UV resistant bungee cord by the foot as well and easily attached hooks or fasteners to secure to the ends. Another summer safety topic is children drowning (it is silent and quick), diving accidents, grills or bonfires (never put volatile fuel or starter on anything but a cold wood, propane or charcoal grill), and boating accidents.
