Energy Efficiency - Don't Forget This!
Comments (18)Hey Oberon!! can you drop me an email?? what I would like to see is homes designed with the ductwork in the conditioned space, then duct leakage would be to the interior of the house and not the exterior. there are so many real world problems with duct leakage/return leakage and so many oversized units to make up for the leakage. HO gets 5 tons on 2500 sq ft home..if house leakage were reduced and duct and return leakage reduced to 5% then unit is oversized... one of the biggest misnomers is that a bigger unit is better. what really happens is that unit short cycles costs more to use per month, doesn't run long enough to remove humdidty..and because of all the stops and starts has a shortened life. high efficient hvac is only as good as the install. in my latest training class they did a calculation that blew me away... I've seen a lot of home with R-38 attic insulation, with attic staircase in the conditioned space. so when uninsulated attic staircase is included with little to no R-value the overall attic insulation is reduced to R-25...now throw a bunch of IC rated recessed cans (not air tight ICAT) one equals one sq ft of uninsulated attic..what do you have now??? insulation that can't perform because of air movement through the insulation.. efficiency always costs more upfront, but it is the length of time it takes to pay back that cost that makes one option preferable to another. green is 80% energy efficiency and 20% everything else (joe lstriburek of buildingscience.com) I would like to see an energy efficiency forum here....See MoreDon't forget Survivor Finale tonight!!!
Comments (44)I liked the end Dave spoke it well. It was definitely a well played game by Rob. The $100K Well........Jeff "Ambers' going shopping." Rob "~~~Oh yeah." LOL I sure would if I were in her place. Matt probably could have used it but his constant whinge proselytizing was not playing the game it was just whining about his lot and giving God all the responsibility to take care of him. Someone ought to tell him God helps those who help themselves. Love his hair cut. He is a handsome guy. Many of the guys were handsome or cute to some degree even Ralph 'cleaned up' had sparkling eyes and a boyish grin under that umm? facial hair. Russel and Phillip just looked icky/creepy/sneaky to me. Natalie She got her staying in the game so long money and had to do absolutely squat but use ROB to keep her there since she wasn't playing she wasn't a threat. I loved that "I used my strength of Social Skills." comment she made. Social skills to use people doesn't get you winning votes and the judges saw through her so well. Julie did drop the hammer a little hard. The kid was only doing what she knows to be in the game. Phillip????? He caught on he was only left because Rob knew no one would vote for him. He got his staying in the game so long money and I think that is the biggest reason he went along with Rob. He knew he would never win no matter how he played the game. His personality was awful even in the reunion show. Will Phillip ever answer a question without babbling nonsense? Will he ever shut up period? OMG burning those awful undies I wanted to gag. Had I been there I would have been WAY UP WIND! I don't think I have ever had the 'ewww my skin is trying to crawl away from that guy' feeling from a person on TV before. I'm still ewww when I think of him! The Former Federal Agent crap was a dominant issue in the reunion too. Proof or not still doesn't mean he is sane or in any way capable of being a stable dependable friend/person or fedderal agent. The supposed proof Begs the Question "WHY "Former" Federal Agent?" Usually death is responsible for folk leaving a federal agency's employment. A lot of benefits to keep them working until old age. Unless they are kicked out for being WACKO or they retire by age or request (usualy infractions of rules and regs constantly over and over will cause a request for leaving or firing). We still don't know what branch of the Federal Government besides FBI CIA AND other Security agencies USPS workers are Federal agents too! They have badges and take training. LOL Well fall is only a few months away. Enjoy what the summer season has to offer. LIL...See MoreDon't forget to rabbit rabbit!
Comments (17)Raven it's a saga!!! He fell one night mid July, getting off the couch. His legs gave way from under him. 11 pm, and ambulance took him to hospital. MRI showed new cancer spot on his T-2 which was blocking the signals to his lower body to move. 5 bouts of radiation and he can move his legs. 2 weeks in hospital, a bit of walking with help and a walker, and can pull himself around with wheelchair using his legs. Sent to another hospital for re-hab, July 30. Did a bit of re-hab and then he wasn't able to do any. Platelets and white blood cells are low, he's anemic, blood pressure is low, heart rate is high (now settling in the mid-90's). Has another cancer spot on his liver, but 2 ultra-sounds show that it's not growing, which is good, because he wouldn't be allowed to have chemo anyway because his levels are all low. We are NOT happy at all with the hospital he's in (in a neighbouring city). We actually met with a social worker and a health care worker, who flat out said, the second week of August, that he's being discharged on Aug. 21 but won't be able to come home, because he can't walk up the 3 flights of stairs to our apartment. (We live on the top floor of a triplex apartment building) No mention of what we're supposed to do, they're throwing him on the side of the road like an unwanted animal. Huuuuge stress for both of us. I finally saw a Dr. the Sunday before the 21st and said that he can't be discharged, he's not ready. He looked at his notes and said there was nothing there about being discharged. I told him what we were told and he said that they don't throw people out. Anyway, he's still in the same hospital, getting a little better gradually, received 2 units of blood yesterday, and now they want him to start re-hab again. He chose 2 other places for re-hab, not in this hospital. He just wants out of there. He's able to do leg exercises in bed and can sit in the wheelchair for a couple of hours....See MoreDon't forget! Comments (14)Finally watched the 2nd half last night. I was glad to see the Godfather get blind sided... always like a good blindside! lol I think the remaining casts are a lot better physically matched now that the big guys are all out. Gabby bugs me - always crying over something stupid. Carl didn't talk to me wah wah wah. There's Christian comforting her and making sure she is ok. And the previews showing she wants to get him out? OMG! That made me so mad! What a traitor. I always like when a STRONG player wins - the ones who ride coattails and get to the end make me so mad. Gabby would be one of those. I hope her plan gets back to Christian and backfires on her!...See Moresushipup2
