Gift for a family ..

A 10 to 15 dollar gift, all over the country. We usually dont do gifts but havent been able to see each other….kitchen towel with a great saying or cute coasters… along that vein

A kitchen towel or coasters are not what i think of as a gift for a family. A box of chocolates, perhaps?

Family, including children? I think I’d send Russell Stover candy (Most any drugstore) or a jigsaw puzzle.

Jojo..Doesn't the mix Josh speaks of sound so delicious? lol Reall! My C.C, T.C, all my Hoya's and many other epethites , is that how you spell that? Oh yes, many of my orchid and most of my houseplants LOVE this mix! I think you said something about being worried about having to water more often in the heat? Have you seen how HOT the temps can get where Josh lives? I have never been that hot here, and he seems to do just fine. Rhizo, you crack me up..lol Wishing everyone a Happier New Year or just as good as the last! It's 30 degrees here and already dark and cloudy at 4 p.m. So depressing. I was really hoping my plants would at least get a few minutes of sun today. Not:-( Mom send you an extra ton of love Jojo and wishes all the best for Mike too. You have been such an awesome friend after all these years. Ooh, one more thing Jojo...Take a look at what the mix could look like. I'll link you. It's 5 parts bark, one part pumice, and one part perlite. Josh thanks pal. When I married my husband I had a son from a previous relationship. through the years we had a son and daughter of our own. Right from the start his parents embraced my son as their grandson. There was never any difference in gift value between my son and the children DH and I had together. I can't speak of gifts to our neices and nephews because I would never dream of asking what they got and comparing nor does it matter to me. My feeling is that the older kids shouldn't mind at all that you are buying gifts for the younger ones and the price should be of no importance to them or to your new SIL. Buy for each child what you feel inspired to buy. Nothing will make your "original" neices and nephew feel as if they're less important to you if you keep on loving them as you have been.

Sorry if I touched a nerve with you Talley Sue. That was not my intention. I was wondering how things "work" because I used to live in Chicago and many traditions there are very different from MO. For example, there was a time when the bride's veil was removed and then an apron was put on her to symbolize that she was now a wife and no longer a bride. The apron had little baby "charms" etc. on it. Another old tradtion was pinning money on the bride for a chance to dance with her. At a cousins wedding in the Upper Pennisula, MI once the banns were posted the whole town usually showed up without invitations being sent. Obviously, it was a very small town, but that was how it was done. And apparently doing the "Chicken Dance" was the norm. I had never even seen it before that. Some traditions require a "groom's cake and/or a special sweet table set up. I've seen brides carrying a bag to hold envelopes and I've seen decorated mailboxes or wishing wells for monetary gifts. Different traditions are sometimes based on old ethnic traditions. Also, there are so many changes these days from back when I was married 25 yrs ago, so that is why I'm so interested to hear about what's new with weddings these days. Actually, the last wedding we went to was back in July, but before that it's been 10 years! We are the groom's parents and not really part of planning the wedding, but will be happy to help out if/when asked. I'm not quite sure what to expect, so I'm trying to get an idea of how things are done in different parts of the country and what's now in and what's out, what's new and innovative in weddings today. I second a gift of real ginger chews from the "Ginger People" as a stocking stuffer for all your ginger lovers out there. I got my husband a huge bag one year for Christmas. Probably too late for ordering now, but if you ever see them in a store, great products. That's the actual name of the company, Ginger People. I had to run out to find some sympathy cards and the only place they sell them in my town is either the mart marts which I was not going near, or the chain pharmacies, since we no longer have locally owned ones in business. Just as a side note, Rite Aid had a marvelous selection of gifts and Christmas decorations. Nicer than any of the big boxes in town. Some nice toys and books and activity books, specialty magazines, ornaments, etc. We really dialed down Christmas shopping this year due to financial austerity, but if you are looking for some last minute stocking stuffers, that was a surprisingly nice place to go. Lots of interesting toiletry products too. My husband has very little sense of smell so I don't get him fancy nice scented things, but they had some cool body washes and scented soaps and aftershaves. Natural products. My one suggestion of a last minute gift that I always loved getting as a kid were the candy Lifesaver "books" of assorted flavors of rolls. They now have activity pages too. I just loved the glamor of having so many types of Lifesaver candy. It combined my two loves, books and candy!

More information please. Is this a random family you are talking about, or someone in your own family? Is this like a Secret Santa gift, or a charity you're supporting? Did you draw names for a family gift exchange? Your question is vague.

Christmas ornament with family name, popcorn tin, search amazon for "under 20.00", candle, Christmas napkins or table runner. I find great things at Marshalls, Ross, Home Goods etc at great prices. Sounds like fun. Oh, how about a game for a family.

all sorts of cute things. You can shop just the Christmas stuff or other catalogs on their site. I really like illuminated stuff haha. I like both of these.

So many choices to choose from. Start with amazon and see what you find. Also delivered food treats via a web site for example nuts, Carmel corn, cheese/meat trays ect....

I can't quite guess what all over the country means. Are they all coming to where you are? Are you shipping all over? Shipping would be as much as the present if it was $10-15. How many presents? Or is this a white elephant, dirty santa-kind of thing where you draw names?

Anything your area is known for....great fudge? special fruits? cheeses, etc....gift boxes of any of these. (if you live in Michigan and want to give a car, could you add me?) ;) Set of Mugs with

flavored coffee packets, etc., etc.

Fancy gift card (cute one made yourself) for something they really like?

It's hard, and I always have trouble with the gift cards.

Frame a lovely card in a 5x7” easel back frame. I have several special Thanksgiving and Christmas cards now that I’ve received and framed and done that to. There’s always room for that kind of small frame and they always bring a smile to my face when I put them out for the season.

Kitchen towel with your state map? I just looked on Amazon, and they have at least TX and AK, probably others. I saw Maine on another website. Get a kitchen tool (a wisk, silicone spoon, wood?) or two and wrap it up cute.

Be forewarned if you haven't mailed anything lately, postal rates have gone up.

Walmart has a lot of kitchen towels from $1.96 and up some cute ones
