Any great tips on keeping a neat dresser top??
Comments (10)I have wall mounted, swing arm lamps beside the bed so that frees up table space. On my nightstand is the phone, tissues, alarm clock & a water bottle. On his an alarm clock & one decorative doo-dad. My books are on the lower shelf of my nightstand and his reading material is in the top drawer of the bachelor chest he uses as a nightstand. Between my walk in closet and master bath I have a built in vanity area. The cabinets hide the laundry baskets and the 3 drawers hold make-up & the miscellaneous stuff that would probably accumulate on the dresser if I didn't have the drawers. I keep hair care items in baskets. I filled a pretty frame with cork and hang my necklaces from decorative push pins. Any rings or pins are in a small box on the counter top. I don't wear perfume so that isn't an issue. On my dresser I have a capiz shell tray to catch the occasional loose button, safety pin etc. I don't have any tabletop framed pictures. It's mostly because I'm too lazy to find a picture and a frame but it sounds like a more deliberate choice if I say it's not good fung shui. Something about your ancestors or relatives shouldn't have to view such an intimate space. Whatever. It's really just less fuss, less muss, less to dust. If you don't have vanity space or drawers in a bathroom those hanging jewelry organizers look like a great idea. I guess you need to really analyze what's on the bureau top. Does it really need to be in the bedroom (ie. receipts, magazines) or is there a better place elsehwere in the house? Maybe just some decorative containers to control the stuff will give a more peaceful & tidy feeling....See MoreNeed ideas for end table
Comments (16)dilly dally - The room is really small, so this is pretty much the best arrangement. I was standing in the doorway when I took the pictures. There's a wall directly across from the futon that's not as wide because of the doorway. That's where the dresser will go. The chair that's in there was not supposed to stay, but he's such a pack rat and wants to keep it. I'm hoping he'll get tired of it once he sees it's in the way. I had to put the futon near the window to make room for a table on the other side. He needs a place to put his alarm clock, cell phone and ipod. deborah - You don't need to take a picture. I totally understand how messy it probably is. The room you see above is the one we're moving to. I hate to even open the door of my son's current room. Thanks for the link! yayagal - That's kind of what I was thinking. We could put the new cover up until this one starts to wear out or he's just tired of it. I really like the idea of an old trunk, but I'm not sure where I would find one. Any ideas? I saw this leather ottoman/table at Target today and wondered about it: They also had a table similar to this in black, but then I would be using three different woods. Comments (15)cburch, I, too, love seeing these other great ideas. I just recently bought the little table linked below. It was just what I needed for a small space in our family room. Granted, this is not heirloom quality, but it serves our needs just fine :-) I bought it online, but I don't think I can link to o*erstock.com's website here. However, the "o" place was the cheapest place, due to their $2.95 shipping, which is even lower right now--just $1--but I think that special ends today or tomorrow. By the way, thanks for the link you provided; I bookmarked it so I can go back and browse later. If you get a chance, post a pic of whatever you decide to do! Comments (17)My SIL and daughter have one of his grandmothers in their breakfast room. The piece was stripped and has a lovely patina. Not sure of the wood. UPDATE: Oh wait, scratch what I said. That's a buffet with shortened legs, not a triple dresser. blush Daughter and SIL's triple dresser is sitting in my basement along with several other pieces they decided they have no room for. This post was edited by newhomebuilder on Tue, Oct 29, 13 at 20:44...See More- 2 years ago
