Custom TV and TV Niche Doors - Lot of Photos
Comments (69)Thanks, Teresa. Would love to see photos of your home. I'll have to do a search later. Squirrel, it is antique pine. I do not cut directly on the counter at all. When needed, I use a cutting boards either on the island or next to the range. Don't cut directly on the granite either. We are good about wiping away water splatters after washing hands or dishes. I have never left a glass sitting on the counter overnight, so I don't know what that would do. The guys just asked me about that when they were here installing the tv cover. The pine is finished with Good Stuff for Wood which is FDA approved for food prep surfaces. I order from the below link. Have only recoated twice in 27mths. I clean the island with a damp sponge and have started using Lysol wipes too. Here is a link that might be useful: Good Stuff for Wood...See Moreseeking design advice for off center fireplace and tv
Comments (2)I'd create two separate areas, yes one, smaller one, next to the windows-two armchairs with a table between them. probably would go with something legged..more visually light, as to obscure windows the less..or give an impression I'm obscuring them the less:) another, bigger one, for TV watching..a sofa..an angled chair on the right much like you have now, but looking smaller..I might consider doing smth different since several chairs in the room..maybe a rocking chair? I might also go for an ottoman instead of a coffee table-can serve as additional seating if needed. I might also find a garden stool as one of the side tables-again, opportunity for additional sitting, if a lot people use a room at once. Round shapes will also break the lines of all the rectangular furniture, so I'd definitely take it into account when shopping. I also might do something patterned to add interest..say two armchairs, or an ottoman, or a chair in bigger sitting area.. Rugs would help to delineate different zones, so another idea to consider. Pretty room. Once you get your balance right-full of potential to be very cozy....See MoreAwkward old TV niche.. what to do??
Comments (10)Have a contractor add studs, drywall, and close it off. Find a tile you like and tile the entire thing. It's asymmetry......Lose the shade on the window above it. It;s awful looking. If you must cover it? Find art you can customize to the size. Put a nice large leafy potted plant to the newly dry walled and tiled side and it will be fine. Make sure you soon meet code...........and removing tile may NOT have been the best idea. Plan on replacing with heat proof SOMETHING. Don't use it until you do....See MoreSeeking help with TV wall
Comments (12)This is why you should always show all four walls even if asking about only one part of a room. To have a harmonious room, every feature should relate to other features. Is there a reason you've boxed in your fireplace with what looks like plywood? Sorry, but it looks odd. Can you remove all the wood add-ons and just have a wood mantel? Consider a medium gray accent wall and add a painting to the left of the TV console or add floating shelves in a finish that matches the floors like so: P.S. If you're determined to have a wood add-on then remove the wood slats where they are, and the weird wood around the fireplace and and have a wall or partial wall of wood slats behind the TV.. But that could overwhelm what's a very soft looking room. otherwise. Wood slats like that are most often seen in MCM houses, which isn't the style of your room. Other problem is that you want to link wood slats to your flooring, but you have a totally different wood finish on your TV console. It's a bit of a muddle of finishes and not as clean looking and harmonious as it should be....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
