Turkey glut not shortage . . .

Turkey was going for .33/lb. and the smallest ones they had were 14 lbs. Needless to say I didn't buy one for hubs, dad and me, all of whom are not that enamored of turkey. If I was frugal and less of a vegetarian I might take advantage of the deal and freeze a lot and make soup, but this year I am not so inclined. On the flip side, the cornish hen I bought for dad was ridiculously small, like 1/3 the size of the ones I used to get. I think we are having surf and turf this year . . . in the past I have had access to free range small organic turkeys but not this year. They may exist but I haven't tracked one down. I used to do duck for the small group but hubs doesn't like duck and I'm not inclined to fuss with it this year. I still have all the rendered duck fat from last year . . . .
