Please help me find a discontinued Kitchaid part

All,

We have a KitchenAid range and it works great. However, the range is 20+ years old and some of the 'Range/Stove/Oven Knob Inserts', part number 3191817 in white, have become chipped and I would like to replace them (all four). This part is no longer made by KitchenAid, and I then called Seneca River Trading and they don't have them. So, if you could please point me to a source for these parts, that would be greatly appreciated.

You didn't reference the model number of the range. I found that part number also associated with several cooktops. Is it #2 on this diagram?

The discontinued P/N 3191817 that you reference is stated as biscuit color, not white. White is WP3180081 which is available. W10854242 is black. The are numerous online parts sources, my go-to is usually PartsDr. eBay is a source for new-old-stock discontinued items and used items ... depending on if any sellers are offering a particular item at a given moment, otherwise keep checking back there if you're willing to wait for it to come up.

dadoes - Thanks. The stove is a model KGCT305G. I should have said 'white-ish', thanks for correcting me. I just looked at PartsDr, but they do not have the part in biscuit, but (thanks to you!), I see they have the part in white. Would it be too ugly for me to use white ones?

Mommy2twocuties, we determined our main floor square footage by first deciding which rooms we had to have on that floor. As far as room sizes, one thing I did to visualize was to measure the sizes of rooms we had in our existing house and use that as a jumping off point. For example we had a dining room at the existing home that was 11x11. I knew from living in that space that it was much too tight for the table and china cabinet that we had and the buffet that I want someday. Based on that, I knew that 14x16 was the minimum size that I wanted. We also used the same formula for determining approximate sizes for the family room, bedrooms, walk in closets and kitchen. Because our existing rooms already had the furniture and stuff that would be moving with us, it made the numbers feel real to us and give some additional perspective. Once you know what you want/need for rooms on a floor, and the approximate size of each, you can better ball park the square footage that you are looking at. It will still bloat up with hallways, stairwells and closets, but you will know if you need to be looking at 1500, 2100, or 2800 square feet to accommodate your wants.

LOVE the rug! Too bad that it is discontinued-- I recently ran into the same thing with the C&B rug I'd planned for my LR. It was also discontinued. I called C&B and they were most helpful -- in fact, I was on the phone with Customer Service and one of the stores for well over an hour. It is definitely worth a call to them as both people I spoke to went and checked their storage areas to see if there was one "floating" out there. What is going to work against you is that they do not stock 8 x 10s in the stores. They said they take up too much space and most people can't easily carry them in their cars. Makes sense. Good luck-- it's really an awesome design.

We pretty much love everthing about the sink. Aside from the looks which we obviously liked and the fact that no one we know has one, it has been pretty much maintenace free. There are certain foods which strip the color off and leave shiny bright copper spots. But within a day the sink starts to patina(darken) and it looks seamless again. And we've poured plenty of hot and boiling water down the drain and it's never been an issue. Copper is also naturally anti-bacterial so that's another added bonus. We also heard some of the warnings about the copper from Mexico. I will say ours is stoutly made and it weighed a ton. I went with one of the ebay sellers who had been around for awhile and looked through alot of feedback. That's about all I can think of to tell you. If you want I have pics of what it looked like before it was used and how it looks now after a year of use with no more upkeep other than soap and water.

You must make that decision. I don't live at your house. :-)

(I would consider white if the originals are bad-enough to already look bad or be non-functional. Or maybe black for more "non-color" contrast vs. potential mismatched shading of other white and biscuit parts. Customization!)
