Pendant or no pendant lighting: Can you please help me decide?
Comments (20)Thanks for all of the input!!! It sounds like a pendant may not be in my future. I loved the idea of it but as I was looking at it more, I was worried that there might be too much going on there. I was having second thoughts and wanted to get opinions from all of you. Holly-Kay: we are planning on changing out the chandelier above the table to a bronze finish to tie in with the darker wood and fireplace things. But I see how a pendant above the sink might be too much. Snookums2: we removed the dark screens and it looks much better. I can't wait for everything to get started! I thought about tiling to the ceiling but wasn't sure since our cabs don't go to the ceiling. We are going to add a taller crown but nowhere near ceiling height. That may be the subject of another post. Nosoccermom: great idea about hanging a balloon. I don't have photoshop but maybe I could cut and paste something there and post again. Thanks for the suggestions!...See MorePendants above peninsula?
Comments (26)buehl Love your kitchen! I am less concerned with DH sitting there than I am with him standing there helping with prep. But the tv idea still might help with that ;-) benjesbride great idea, I somehow hadn't thought of that. rebeccamomof123 I like what you've done there. Do you have a picture that shows the soffit? For those asking about dimension, it's a small space. The peninsula is 36"w X 70" long with the soffit sticking out 26" and the upper counter depth 12". I was thinking I should hang the light/s centered over the part of the peninsula that sticks out from the upper cabinet (i.e. over the right 70-12=58"). Does that make sense? Thanks for all your suggestions....See MoreCan someone please help me with figuring out where to end backsplash?
Comments (22)I had the same issue with my kitchen, where to stop the backsplash. I was very concerned about the blank wall above the counter. Although, my concern is different than yours, these decisions are difficult. Then, without consulting me, the tile installer finished the job. It was a condo remodel in Naples, FL and I live in IL. It was during Covid and I had no way of being there. As it turned out, I’m happy with the way it turned out. I guess the installer is knowledgeable where to stop it. I would agree with the idea of not putting tile to the ceiling. Good luck....See MoreHELP please… How to space 3 pendant lights over 9’ island?
Comments (12)Yes, I had to do that too. Tape the island size on the sub floors or build one from cardboard...this will bug you if you get it wrong. Or just go with what you were reading as a recommendation. Good luck! Make sure that you have plenty of aisle width planned, the island electrical won't let you push the cabinets a few inches either way....See Morebonnaccra
