subway backsplash for kitchen update?

I’m trying to modernize my house. I want to do an easy update for the kitchen, but I don’t want to paint the cabinets because they’re a beautiful solid maple. Nor do I want to change the granite. Would white subway tiles be an easy update to modernize? I’m going to change the valance on the window.
I appreciate any feedback.

I don't think I would do bright white. Could you post a better picture of the granite?

Your kitchen is very open and inviting. It all blends together nicely. I like your countertop with your cabinets and BS. The glass cabinets are lovely. I'd like to ask if the muntin are in the glass cabinets line up well with the shelves? It appears so in your case. How are the muntins attached to the glass? Can you provide pictures? I'm a little surprised that you want an "update" when white subway tile backsplashes seem to be very popular right now. Without seeing it, maybe you just need a change of grout or some accent tiles.

I just wanted to let anyone know that i went with ivory glass subway tiles and grouted a little lighter than i had originally planned. The grout matches the cupboards so it darkens the tiles. I’m adding the pics. Thanks

I’d pick a beigeish color from the countertop and keep it simple.
I’d also consider removing the microwave if possible.

The countertop is more of a dark green mixed with black and flecks of whitish gray.

Hi Karen - that looks like my granite, which I believe is Butterfly Verde. Mine has creamy blobs. When I thought of adding a backsplash I bought some creamy subway and it looked ok. I think white might be too stark. Depending on how much light your kitchen gets, a pale green would look pretty too. Green looked horrible in my kitchen. PS: my countertops are frequently dirty, too, lol. It’s hard to see with this granite.

I would go to a couple of tile stores and buy samples in both green and a creamy white. Were you planning on painting and getting a new window treatment? I would order samples for the window treatment and paint and see how it all coordinates.

It took me many, many samples, and 5 tile stores to find the warm white subway I am using. Sounds silly but each one had a different color and tone.......don't even get me started on how many samples I ordered for the roman shades.
