I have a few trees that I haven't got planted

Our new modular home hasn't been set on the basement yet and we purchased several trees that we want to plant around the house. To get them through the winter would we be better off planting them in a protected area and moving them to where we want them next spring, or putting them in the ground still in their pots and using tree wrap and a plastic protector and mulching heavily around them until next spring? We have a Canadian Hemlock, White Birch, 2 Autumn Blaze Maples, and a Summer Snow Hemlock. We are in zone 5 in Iowa.
