Fireplace makeover help

I need to update my fireplace.

Ideas with pics and drawings welcomed.

Was thinking of painting it white and adding this stone detail. Just not sure where to place the stone. Help

Then adding an accent wall behind. In either black or a deep jeweled tone.

Can replace hand carved fish, is a gallery piece… with a French mirror or a painting with accessories. Ideas please.

I think those fireplaces look best painted the wall color, or an off white sort of color, that's just the style they are.

Here is some inspiration for you. You can make this the centerpiece of the room, instead of the eyesore. 1) Paint the entire fireplace white 2)Paint the cabinets the same color. 3) For a more updated look, mount your tv on the wall 4) updated hardware on cabinets. 5) Remove the 2 mirrors 6) Add a chunky wood mantle 7) Add a hearth all the way across. I would make it a similar color to the floor. Depending on the floor plan of your room, you also might consider mounting the tv on the fireplace wall. The reason I mention this is the fireplace and tv are quite a distance. It might work for you/might not. Just mentioning this as a thought. Clare-CDR Design. 3D Renderings of your space.

Moving into a new home and the upstairs brick fireplace is a working fireplace was painted like a sandstone color and I was wanting to paint it white like the rest of the wall. And maybe put like a wood beam on the beam thats there or idk? My furniture is very vintage 1940-1960s style that will be in the house as well. Here’s a pic of the fireplace from old owners to present day. Also a pic of my living room currently until we move in this weekend just in case furniture style helps with decision of what to do. 😁 thank you any and all for some advice. I’m certainly outta my element here with makeovers of this kind.

Whats going on with the wall above the shelves? Is it hollow? I cant tell the depth there.Whats the reason you want to keep the mantel? If youre going to do the work, do it to get the look you want. I would dismantle the shelving and build recessed shelves or the floating shelves, like in your inspo, and make the actual fireplace the focal point with maybe large format tiles to the ceiling. As it is now, it looks kind of squat, cutting the wall in half. You may get comments that shelves are dust collectors and on and on but I think they go a long way to bring your style into a room. Could be limestone but not sure. Yes the white underneath the gray paint. Could be a primer though.

Thank you! So I primed the fp. I am testing out two colors on the left side middle column.

Benjamin Moore’s Super White (on top) and Chantilly Lace (bottom)

Which do you think will look better? Should I tile the thin inner rim of paint it black? Or tile just the bottom and leave the rest white?

I am going to get a rug similar to this one that has black, gray tones and some rust. Night bring in a muted mossy green color in decor accents or an accent chair. I also like the black chair I added in the pics.
