Comments (26)As many times as I've heard "Mack the Knife" from the 1960s on, I never suspected that it was about murder or that Mack was a murderer, and I did not know that the lyrics were taken from Bertold Brecht's Die Dreigroschenoper, which I have both read and seen. I always thought "mack" was something you were supposed to do to a knife, similar to stropping. Now I'll never hear that song the same way again! Thanks, I guess👿 Here's a silly song, from the 1950s, I think: Not a great song, but on topic. I think that there are a lot of songs here that don't fit into other themes (so far), and I do like this time of year. Parties in San Francisco would start almost two weeks before Halloween when I lived there in the 1970s-80s, although in the late 1960s, New Year's Eve was the most popular holiday there, and that's when the best concerts used to happen....See Moreamylou321
