What's New? I've been away from plants 9 years
Comments (9)People seem to be talking a lot about new Aglaonemas. BBS's have radically expanded their house plant selections beyond the very basics, which has been quite a boon for people out in the boonies. Similarly, it also seems like the wholesalers are making efforts to make a much wider variety of plants available to a much wider audience. Like new varieties of old favorites like Pothos and Sans, and other plants that probably would already be old standbys but just haven't been available as house plants before. Someone has to trek through the wilderness of Ecuador or Malaysia or Borneo to gather these things, then propagate successfully for years to make something new publicly available, even if the plant was growing there for centuries. Seems like someone has been working on that for a while and the results are starting to show up in droves. Or maybe it's just as simple as the BBS's realizing people want more than Pothos and Sans. What do you people think from your view of things? If you browse Exotic Angel or Costa Farms, I think most people will see a lot of plants you've never seen before, so many that were never in any of the famous house plant books. I think mini/fairy gardens will end up being this decade's "macrame hangers" but it's hard to tell if it's just my new interest, causing me to notice every instance, or if it really is suddenly much more prolific. These darn "self-watering pots" are everywhere. Beware!...See MoreI need help- I've been too mindful of cost
Comments (11)-Nice looking houses Oaktown, I got some good ideas from browsing through the interior photos. Yes, we have considered a one story....but it was cost prohibitive. -Musicgal- Yes, they are amazing....I want one! -Virgilcarter- I have considered 10-12 ceilings on the entire first floor, but am afraid it would make the house difficult to heat. We have to heat about 5 months out of the year. Robin: Yes, it's a walkout basement ( on the south facing side) Annie- I've seen a lot of houses with the "elevator shaft" look....I really don't care for a full two story vault, no matter how big the room is. Lazygardens- great ideas, thanks so much:) Autumn and okokok- Thanks for the encouragement, I'm leaning towards sticking with 9'. We love our land and our view, I'm planning on having lots of windows and I'm sure that will make the house feel open. I've just been in panic mode lately. Lyfia- You're right, I may be putting too much $ into the kitchen ceiling. My reasoning was that the kitchen often gets too hot and I thought vaulting up to 12' may make it cooler. Also, the kitchen is in the back and can line up with the porch ( to keep the house rectangular)....See MoreI've been living with a married man for 8 years!!!!
Comments (28)Sweet luv let me tell you the most important thing about your situation. You are sinning against God for being with a Married man only consequential things are going to occur to you and he still is going to be married to his wife but your spirit is going to be ruined. Take it from me I was in the same situation as you exact but for 16 years. Everything was so good and every year he was going to divorce his wife and every year it was an excuse. Don't fall for it. I made triple the amount as he did, but 10 years later my sin caught up with me. I lost my income, lost my great career he got nastier and blamed me. He was very verbal abusive then turned physical when he knew his cash cow was living. Get out while you can it will only get worse. I was with him for 16 years you only done 8 I know what the love feels like but it's only one way. Jesus loves you more go after his love. Ever since I left him and got back with the lord my life has been restored. Don't wait to got humble you from your sin and take everything from you. Please trust me it's going to get way way way way worse. Please take it from someone with experience in the truth of what your going through. God Bless you and I hope you do the right thing. Kick him to the curb....See MoreLooking for a new 'branch' of wines, less sweet than I've been dr
Comments (2)Gewurztraminer. Pretty clearly if you're shying away from any tannins, oak, etc, a white is going to be closer to the mark. Among easily available whites, Gewurz's are very floral, low acidity, and perceived as sweet. Several coworkers of mine have "graduated" from White Zin to Gewurz happily, and it looks so much cooler to order it at a bar. Domestic inexpensive bottles are widely available for under $10. Who knows, maybe you'll end up liking Montrachet's some day. Have fun....See MoreZalco/bring back Sophie!
