In searching a topic, why are only the responses on page 1 available?

Or have I lost not only my name but the ability to access older threads? I was trying to find posts about adding a mudroom inside my garage to step up into and then walk straight into my house. No matter how many times I tried, I could not access any pages beyond the first. So I tried searching for an unrelated landscaping question, and again could not get beyond the initial page of postings. I clearly remember being able to do so some years back. So, when did this change, and why? Or is it just me?

I can’t figure out the search function at all. If i do any kind of filter or sort, not only is there no filter or sort but I lose the search term, as well.

Boxerpups: First, where are your pictures? If on your computer only, you'll need to upload them somewhere on the web for the rest of us to see them. I upload pictures to PhotoBucket. Open an account w/PhotoBucket or other photo hosting site. Take a picture using a digital camera (or film camera but get them on disk when they're developed) Resize your pics so they're approx 400x300 (resize keeping the same proportions so they don't get distorted...i.e., don't specify a specific size, use %-ages or similar) Upload your pictures to your photo account Find the label that contains the link to the picture (In PhotoBucket, it's the box labeled "HTML Code") Copy that link and paste it into the "Message" box of a post. You might try using a different browser. Houzz functions differently (for me) depending on the browser that I am using.

What browser are you currently using? What device are you using? Which portal are you using - houzz or gardenweb?

I don't think it's you. At least I can tell you it's me too. The search function used to really work well. I think it was a few years ago. Now it's extremely random and my experience is that if it does work at all, the first page I see is usually posts from 2012 and earlier.

Wow! I wasn't expecting such wildly varying results. Foodonastump, I get a page of results with what looks like there are pages and pages listed on the bottom, but when I click on ANY of the pages, I always am still on the first page. When you clicked on page 2 or 10 or whatever, did it actually take you to a different page of totally different postings?

Bpath, are you typing in the search area on the top of the page? That's crazy!

Lars, I'm on an old Acer Chromebook. I bought a new HP Chromebook earlier this year, and the first time when accessing Houzz through Gardenweb, which is what I always use, that's when Google took over and I lost my name when I tried to log in. I was so upset I never used it again. I'll fire it up later and see if I have the same problem, and I'll also get out my ancient Macbook Pro which I no longer use and see what happens with that as well.

Salvona, I never looked at how old the posts were I was getting, I'll check that out, too.

Hey for what it's worth, I am on an Acer Chromebook ( it' is not old though- I think I got it within 2021)

Difficulties accessing various features are not uniform. I believe it depends on the device, the browser and which side of the platform you frequent.

I only access the GardenWeb side of the platform, only on my laptop and with a Chrome based browser. I have no issues searching and can access as many pages as may turn up in the search. I also find the search feature works far better and with far more precision on the GW side.....Houzz searches are a mess!!

I also never sign out.

When did you post the question and in which forum? I found a thread in the Building a Home forum (Feb 2020) using the search words…mudroom garage. If your name is Shelli it may be the one you are looking for??

Same as Gardengal48, I have no problem with searching on gardenweb.com. I'm using Firefox on a desktop PC.

I never sign out either.

Maddie - I didn't post, I was just using the search bar to explore past posts. I read down the first page then wanted to see what was on page two, but realized they were the posts from page one. I checked other pages, and nope, couldn't access any other pages. I checked another topic from another forum and same problem. I've been gone all day and just got home - no time to check my other computers as planned - tomorrow after work...ETA I'll also check to see that post you mentioned.

Some of my devices don't let me page down. But I never have that problem with the desktop computer.
