Sofa on long window wall will look and feel the best and make the room inviting when you walk into it from the front entry. TV on the short wall opposite the sofa; pay to have the wiring redone and move on......you cannot make the space bigger but you can make work well....PS what and where do the stairs go? Do you have an upstairs? What are the dimensions of the living/dining room and kitchen.

If you have other options, I would pass on that apartment. It may have one bedroom, but it essentially has no living space. The "room" where the entrance is is essentially unusable due to traffic patterns, so any living you are going to do will be in the kitchen or bedroom. If it weren't for the partial room dividers between the entry room and the kitchen, you could probably make an okay combined space. As it is...I would pass on it unless the price was AMAZING, the location was PERFECT, or there was nothing else available.

At least an arm chair to the left of the fireplace -- I don't think there's room on the right. Hanging a TV that is larger than the firebox is what makes the room look like a TV room -- lower in the corner or between the windows, and put the focus on a nice piece of art, is what make it a living room with a TV.

Thank you for the comments, it is very helpful! KL- the odd corner is a fireplace which is too high to place a tv above it. Yes, one goal would being able to see the tv from the dining room and kitchen while cooking. I watch sports and when the tv is on the largest wall, I feel it will be easier to concentrate without other distractions (more cozy and will block the room off- not seeing the kitchen and dining room on the left side). CDR design- the sectional is 120 " x 81 ', currently with the 81 inches facing the tv on the wall. That is a great point that I need three feet on each side for clearance! I agree that sectionals are not a good choice for this room, I would like to buy a new sofa and loveseat set. Currently I also have a lazy boy recliner (parked in front of the tv ) and three ikea lack side tables (each 22x22 inches). The recliner may have to go to give more space. The tv is wall mounted with cables running in the wall, Next time around, I will just buy a tv stand so that the set up is not so permanent and I can change it up easier!
