If the floor of the porch is concrete faced on the sides with brick, then, unless it is damaged and crumbling and either looks bad or is in some way dangerous, keep it. Add a forward facing gable roof over the front porch you have, with the ridge of the roof either the same height or just below the ridge of the original house. What you use for your front porch posts will decide" the look" -- the curb appeal. My personal preference would be to use square wood posts -- 6"x6" or even 8"x8"-- and vertical siding on the gable over the porch painted the same color you paint the left addition that has siding rather than brick. Thank you everyone for your heartfelt condolences for my mom. It’s been difficult as you all might understand because this was unexpected. She did have Alzheimer’s but she passed from a heart attack ... She was lucky to be in the arms of an aid who was there with her even thought I wish it was me. I did receive a call right then and was told to come ASAP... all I could do was to suit up in my garb with the help of a director of her memory care trying to get me back.. suited up with goggles, mask and gloves and sitting with my mom was like I was in a different world. She was already gone.. but I just missed that point. I stayed with her until it was time for her to be assisted.. I left empty and alone. Never thinking it would end this way. I’m broken.. she was my Best friend and knew me right up to the end. She started to understand FaceTime and would tell the helpers “ that’s my daughter, Laura” knowing that makes me happy.. she didn’t suffer .. June is Alzheimer’s awareness month 💜 i just wanted to share .. talking about this has helped me with the loss. I have lost two family members in two months and in this crazy world with everything happening it’s just unbelievable... The world has changed and I can hardly watch the news now.. just makes me sick ... So many things that are so upsetting. Taking the 3 month leave for those who know my profession was the right decision.... A collection of attractive large-enough storage boxes or baskets on top of the room divider book case might be cheery. Or some wire sculptures (do you have one there?) Funky animal decor It’s tricky to put a rug under an office chair with wheels, but in your case it might be worth it to do that to warm up/boho-up the vibe in the room, and then put a transparent office mat under the chair so the wheels glide This have any appeal? Fun rug I would get a perpetual calender or a chalk board for the blank side of the room divider bookcase.
